a belated thank you to “The President’s Own” US Marine Band harpist Taylor Fleshman for working with our harpists this past week!

Margaret Anne knows it doesn’t get more fun than performing Salzedo’s Ballade at 9 AM on a Monday… 🙃

Safe to say we are exhausted at the end of the day 🥱

Come along with studio members Ava (Biology + Music, 27’) and Noa (MIS + Music, 26’) for an average day! Here at FSU, students can customize their degree plans to make a path that fits their unique career goals.

Interested in our studio, or what it looks like to double major/ dual degree / minor in music? Shoot us a DM or an email! 📚#harp #fsu #musicstudent #auditions #musicfsu

@noa.michaels is starting a new initiative at @musicfsu!

Soundpainting is an open improv form based on a “multidisciplinary sign language for composing in real time” adopted by ensembles all around the world. @fsusoundpainting will be the first soundpainting ensemble in the southeastern US and will meet weekly in the CoM starting this fall.

Follow them for more details—singers and instrumentalists of all levels and genres (including world music) are welcome!

What would you play if no one told you what to play?

Soundpainting is an art form using live composing sign language - the leader signs, and the ensemble improvises in real time.

Every performance is fully unscored: what you hear happens once, shaped entirely in the moment, and then it’s gone.

Bring your instrument and make some good music in a structure that’s built moment-to-moment by the group!

Weekly rehearsals at the FSU College of Music start this coming fall semester - email Noa Michaels (nam24k@fsu.edu) if you have any questions!

We’ll be dumping a lot of photos over the next few days 😬 #concertseason

Last week, Amber performed on Wind Ensemble’s American *music*-themed (NOT America-themed…the difference is important) concert. Thanks to the little flags handed out at the concert, we seem to have the most patriotic practice rooms at FSU.

Ava performed John Mackey’s The Frozen Cathedral with Symphonic Band on Thursday! Dylan took some excellent photos.
