From our “Diary of Anne Frank” Hanukkah/cast party on Sunday. I had no idea when we started this venture in 2018, that this production would still be going strong. Or the family feeling we’d all create. Exciting news coming soon for our 10th iteration of the play in 2026!

Today we celebrate the 95th birthday of a very special person — GABRIELLA KARIN. She has become an integral member of our Diary of Anne Frank family as she shares her stories of being a Holocaust survivor during so many of our post show Talk Backs over the last few years. Our company (and our audiences) got to sing for her last week and express our great love and admiration. She is making a difference in the world. Especially at our student matinees.

It’s been seven years since we first opened my LatinX “The Diary of Anne Frank” and we’re still making headlines. Thanks to Rance Collins for attending one of our recent school matinees and so beautifully highlighting our production and purpose. Unfortunately the words of this play are more vital today than in 2018 when we started this journey. And all the more important to keep Anne’s story alive. “Never again” is “Right now”!

Morning of the first student show of our “Diary of Anne Frank”. Most of the kids arrive at the theatre not knowing the story. Or how it ends. For some, it’s their first time experiencing a live play. It’s especially powerful when they’re seeing it with young actors that look like them. We had no idea David Gurrola (our “Peter Van Daan”) would receive this kind of rock star reaction. Seats only available for tomorrow evening show Thurs Nov 6@7pm. Colony Theatre. Tkts/info at Eventbrite

Hanukkah comes early this year. Dec 14. Even earlier for my cast of “The Diary of Anne Frank” in this beautiful scene from the end of Act One. Hanukkah literally means “dedication”. I can’t think of a better word to describe each & everyone on stage and behind who have dedicated the past 7 years of their lives helping me keep Anne’s story alive. Seats only available for this Thurs Nov 6@7pm Tkts/info: www.eventbrite.com

I love presenting our production of “The Diary of Anne Frank”, but the Talk Backs are worth the price of admission. The student matinees are especially moving. Like the time this young boy, who was a WWII buff, couldn’t believe he’d ever be in the same room with a real Holocaust survivor, our Guest Speaker Gabriella Karin. Something came over me and I invited him on stage to meet her. We were all in tears by the time he returned to his seat. Gabriella will be there for all performances. But shows are sold out, except Thurs Nov 6@7pm. Tkts/info: www.eventbrite.com

Before every show, my cast huddles on stage to share what this production means to them. This time will be different. These lines from the play stopped us cold in rehearsal recently. How did playwright Wendy Kesselman know in 1997 that these words would be our new reality? Not even in 2018, when we first started performing this piece, was it this bad. We’re way past “Never Again”. Only one night with seats available. Tkts/info: www.eventbrite.com

It’s not every day the LA Times writes about local theatre, so let’s celebrate this fairly comprehensive list of artistic venues. I like to think when they mention that the Colony Theatre is known for their “cleverly re-imagined classics”, they were speaking of our LatinX production of “The Diary of Anne Frank”. All school matinees Sold Out. Seats only available for Thurs Nov 6 @7pm performance. Tkts/info: www.eventbrite.com

🇲🇽 With all the crazy stuff that’s been happening on the streets and on the news, I’m beyond blessed to announce that @zimmermanstan Stan Zimmerman, the writer behind iconic shows like Golden Girls, Gilmore Girls, Roseanne, The Brady Bunch Movie, The Pauly Shore Show, and many others, has gifted us with a unique production called “The LatinX production of ‘The Diary of Anne Frank.’” I will be performing as “Mr. Dussell” in the morning shows at the Colony Theatre in Burbank on November 5 and 6 at 10 Am. It’s an immense honor to be under the wings of @arisalvaradoactor Aris Alvarado, a highly respected actor known for roles like Caesar from Gilmore Girls, Popcorn from Kickin’ it Old Skool, and many other remarkable productions. I will perform alongside talented actors and crew members. This is a profound blessing. All morning shows are sold out! Tickets are still available for the evening shows. Come see the show that’s been making waves with CNN, Los Angeles Times, and many more since it started!
