So grateful to announce my commitment to run Division 1 Track and Cross Country at the University of North Alabama!

Firstly, I want to thank all of those who coached me over the years and brought me to where I am now. I also want to thank all those who have come to my races and cheered me on! Most importantly, I want to thank God for him guiding the way even when I was in doubt of his plan. I could not have done this without the huge support group that I have and I can’t describe how excited I am about this next step. Go Lions!

Competitive running has been my rock and my foundation. It all started as something to train for, compete in, and try to get better at. But over time, it became so much more than that. For the past 9 years of my life, competitive running shaped who I am. Early mornings when no one else was up. Workouts that pushed me past what I thought my limits were. Days where everything clicked, and a lot of days where nothing did. This sport gave me purpose, structure, and something to chase when I needed it most. But the truth is, this sport became something much deeper than that. When I was 13 my dad suddenly passed away, right before I started running cross country, and I didn’t really know how to deal with it at my age. Running became the place I went when I didn’t have answers. It was my outlet, my escape, and sometimes the only thing that made sense amidst all the chaos. This sport didn’t just challenge me, it carried me; made me who I am. There were days I showed up not because I wanted to get better, but because I needed somewhere to put all the emotions, rage, anger, sadness, anxiety, etc. It gave me a way to keep moving forward when it felt like my world had stopped. And looking back, I don’t know who I would’ve been or where I would be now without it during that time. But just as all things giveth they taketh. Senior year didn’t go how I imagined. Not even close. I put in the work, did the little things right, and still didn’t get the results I thought I could earn. That’s a hard reality to face when you’ve sacrificed day in and day out to this sport. There were moments of frustration, doubt, and honestly questioning if my time doing this was all worth it. But that’s where I learned the harsh reality and learned real lessons. Running doesn’t promise you anything. It doesn’t care how hard you work or how badly you want it. And as brutal as that is, it forced me to grow up. It taught me discipline when I didn’t feel motivated. It taught me resilience when things weren’t fair. It taught me how to keep showing up when there was no guarantee it would pay off, and maybe most importantly. It humbled me. (Continued in comments)

I am extremely excited, and beyond blessed to announce my commitment to The University of North Alabama!!

I would like to start off by giving all the glory to God! I am extremely thankful that the Lord has given me this talent and love for running. I am praying that he will use me to be an impact to those around me at UNA.

I am also extremely thankful for my parents for every sacrifice they have made for me along the way. My coaches for believing in me and pushing me to be better, and my teammates and friends for the support and motivation along the way. I would also like to thank @cpc5 and @noah_bonsall for giving me this wonderful opportunity to continue doing what I love! Roar Lions!

Some moments from My Holiday Season. What a year it’s been. Graduating college and getting into adult life was a big change. One big lesson that I learned this year that I wanted to share is this: The Lord is always with you. He is there every hour, every minute, every moment. And He is always there to guide you and love you. As I transition to my first full adult year, my goal is to continue being a light that God has called me to be. Thank you to everyone who has been apart of my life this year. I love every single one of you guys! - Mason ❤️
