5 years ago I started training these two when they were just in 8th Grade. Now they’re headed to college in a couple weeks! One going to Rice, the other to LSU.

These guys were a huge part of the beginning of Z10. Got a chance to take them out the dinner one more time before they leave. Grateful for them, their beautiful families that have been so good to me for years, and it’s just fascinating to be a part of these guys lives watching them grow and evolve.

Days like this, you realize… this life is bigger than sports. While what I get to coach is valuable, nothing beats the blessing of an opportunity I get to tell stories of life lessons and give guidance through challenging times, listen to the pain they may be experiencing and letting them know that something greater is ahead.

Sports don’t last forever, but the memories and impact you leave by serving others will.

Then on top of these two, there are a countless amount of others that I get to watch grow up week after week. Time flies by man. Got kids that were just in 8th grade starting to drive now. I’m over here like “how did those 2-3 years go by so quick?”

Anyways.. my advice to them as they begin the next chapter.

1). Christ is the # 1 thing in your life. Keep Him first, love your neighbor & remain sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Anything you’re questioning God about during difficult times will be revealed later on. Have complete trust that He does everything for your good. I am a witness of this.

2). Don’t go through life having to live in regret of the “what if’s”. You’ll never have less responsibility than right now. Take the calculated risks now. It’s better to learn if you like it or not right now than to live in regret and be rotten later in life because you didn’t take the chance now. It’s okay to jump at things without fear. You never know where life will take you. I am a witness of this.
