“Shut up. If you want to be a photographer, you’re a photographer.”

Step one, show up. Because as Noah Fox can attest, this community is so great.

You can hear Noah’s full interview alongside Liam Beckett, our June featured artists, “Finding your voice in photography” at the link in our bio or search Behind the Glass Gallery podcast wherever you listen to your podcasts.

I’ve been heavily inspired by and envious of photographers who get is cool motion blur with a train or cars and mix it with cool protraits of people. On our most recent trip to the city (New York) for @filmforeverweekend I decided to try my hand at creating some images of my own using this technique of a SLOW shutter speed and a still subject to get this effect you see here. I have to say I am quite pleased with how it came out. I have a few more of these frames cookin’ 👩🏻‍🍳 some better than others. Please enjoy the best one (in my opinion). More to come, hopefully.

Liam Beckett (he/him) is a street photographer - currently Rochester based - blending a mix of black and white, and color photography. His work centers around a focus on interactions between people, peoples’ place within their surrounding, and local character and identity.
