Camp and sunrise with the boys :)

Sometimes we just need to take a step back and breathe, to appreciate all that the Lord has given us, and realize that hope is not found in this world but through Jesus Christ himself. That’s what this trip was for me.

The trip stemmed from a time last fall where honestly I was quite overwhelmed and anxious. I just wanted some time away in God’s creation, with my friends, without internet, and away from the stress. God was gracious to provide a reconnection with the Him and my friends, refreshment to my soul (but a lack of sleep), and a preparedness to jump back into life!

My first born graduates in just a few days from my alma mater, Virginia Tech, with a degree in Wildlife Conservation. As a high school Senior who didn’t love school, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. I remember telling him at the kitchen counter, you know what you want to do, you just have to trust yourself to make that decision. He has had the best 4 years, made the most amazing friends, and dove head first into VT and all it has to offer. He lead a small group for Chi Alpha, was a part of a research project on least weasels, learned every tree known to man, and fully enjoyed the mountains and rivers and all they had to offer. I am so proud of your leadership, your curiosity, your determination and your drive. I tell you all the time I’m sorry for the expectations I put on you (first borns 🤪) but I hope you enjoy where they took you! Little 4 year old Evan would be so proud of all the bugs, trees, birds and animals that you know. 🐛🐞🪲 And yes, Laney graduated too!
