i’ve been hosting sunday dinners almost every week for the past year, and it’s genuinely become one of my favorite parts of my week.

when i was in college, i remember my sister’s friend’s mom would invite them over for dinner every week. they didn’t have family close by, and she just wanted them to have somewhere to go, eat a home cooked meal and feel a little less far from home.

i don’t think i realized how much that stuck with me until i finally had a space of my own and was in a place financially where i could do the same.

so i started inviting a handful of friends over on sundays. no agenda. no need to bring anything. just come hungry, bring yourself and eat.

is cooking for a bunch of people every week a little bit of a sacrifice? absolutely lol. but there’s something about having a house full of people i love, especially people who don’t have family close by, that brings me so much joy.

sometimes the community you’re looking for starts with opening your own door.

anyway, ’tis the season to stop waiting for the invite and host the dinner party
