Spotting my stool in this beautiful interior by @nobregaborghmans as seen in @akt.magazine. It makes me trilled to see a design come to live in an interior envisioned by great architects. Shot by @piet.albert.goethals

Perched just across the Louvre, overlooking the Seine, a historic Parisian apartment has been quietly transformed into a city hideaway by Belgian studio Nóbrega Borghmans. The interior’s calm elegance echoes the prestige of the architecture and location, with a contemporary atmosphere that the architects describe as ‘collected, authentic and grounded’.

In Belgium's Historic City of Ghent, a Young Family Finds Timeless Balance in a Home That Bridges Heritage and Contemporary Design

In Ghent's historic centre, most 19th-century townhouses have long been divided into apartments, their family histories quietly erased. This one — a stately home built in 1838 — escaped that fate. Following a sensitive renovation by Belgium-based architecture firm Nóbrega Borghmans, it has been reimagined for a young family ready to write its next chapter.

In Ghent’s historic centre, most 19th-century townhouses have long been subdivided into apartments, their family histories quietly erased. This one — built in 1838 — escaped that fate, thanks to a sensitive renovation by architect Charlotte Borghmans and her firm @nobregaborghmans , who reimagined it for a young family ready to write its next chapter.

Their approach was not restoration but continuation. Dropped ceilings removed, missing ornamentation reintroduced through reinterpretation rather than imitation, and a façade repainted in a custom colour drawn from archival records. What remains is a home that honours its 1838 bones while making room for contemporary life.

BELLPORT, designed by @christianhaasporto, has generous proportions, open lines and deep seat. The sofa invites you to sit, to gather, and to linger. Here, comfort takes on a form of its own. The generously drawn volumes convey an immediate sense of softness.

◾️The solid wood base grounds the piece. It can blend seamlessly into the upholstery or stand out in lacquer, in a chosen shade, extending the freedom of composition.
