The Yawpers | Evan Courtland | 8 PM
Saturday, October 24 |. Named after a line in Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself," The Yawpers have spent a decade building a sound that pulls from punk, blues, and Americana without settling into any of them.

Signed to Bloodshot Records after SXSW 2015, their debut American Man was co-produced by Johnny Hickman of Cracker and recorded at The Blasting Room. Rolling Stone called "Burdens" off that record "Springsteen-worthy."

Their third album, Boy in a Well, was produced by Tommy Stinson of The Replacements — a concept album set in post-World War I France that came with a full comic book illustrated by J.D. Wilkes of the Legendary Shack Shakers. Human Question followed in 2019. Nate Cook on that record: "I wanted to take a crack at using these songs as therapy, really."

Stages with Lucero, The Reverend Horton Heat, The Black Angels, Wanda Jackson, and Nashville Pussy.

Kind words from Americana Highways….
“Left Arm Tan doesn’t provide an array of music like hard candy, but a confection of melodies that melts in your ears...This band shouldn’t be a secret for long.” @americanahighways @nodepression #altcountry #townesvanzandt #guyclark #mickeynewbury

Thank you to Peter Dervin at No Depression for capturing Rosie Flores and her longtime friends as she popped in on a day off from touring with Robert Plant at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival. Rosie jumped in and joined Emmylou Harris, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock, Dave Alvin, Steve Earle and more for a beautiful tribute to the late great Joe Ely.

our new album *memory lane* is out today!!! a whole lotta love went into recording this batch of @rachie_ro originals, truly a DIY effort. we recorded all ten songs live, facing each other in one large room, in just a few days at our drummer @therealmikeharmon’s central mass studio. produced by our very own @macwaffle engineered by @therealmikeharmon and mixed by our bassist @dannnbui.

for years we’ve been real inspired by the music and art coming out of the great state of louisiana so it made perfect sense to ask our lafayette pals to lend a hand for the finishing touches: mastering by the super talented @atmas.aaron and gorgeous papercut album art from @samwrobel.art (fka @sparrowpapercraft) vinyl pressing from @neworleansrecordpress.

and of course our local buddy @paddycakes_piasecki gets a huge shoutout for his delightful band shots.

we hope you feel the love as you listen 💕

Don't take my word for it. Blues Rock Review, No Depression, and Blues Music Magazine all had something to say about the record I made with Anne Harris. Have you picked up your copy of Gypsy Blue Revue yet?

"The Collaboration, known as Gypsy Blue Revue, creates a sizzling, jaw-dropping Live Show..." Blues Rock Review

"Soars pleases listeners with a stupefying blend of surf, R&B, reggae, blues, and soul..." No Depression

"Take two string instrument mavens with eclectic musical tastes, stir them together with a solid rhythm section and expressive original tunes, and voila! You have the hour-long spirited music stew, Gypsy Blue Revue." Blues Music Magazine
