POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Soggy, Saturday Snaps - yes, it was wet, but I still managed to get my steps in, visiting @central_photobooks excellent book fair at EH Smith Design Centre and attended an excellent and enthusiastic talk on the history of photography delivered by @john_spinks Great to spot a book on sale which included one of my photos courtesy of @nogopress There were some fascinating old books and prints featuring Birmingham on display which were 'right up my street' (except those streets looked decidedly different before their modern transformation if you get my drift) Also popped to @neighbourhood_padel which is a great resource underneath the Digbeth arches. Great to see the colour palette by @stacey_barnfield now supported by complimentary coloured posts etc at The Custard Factory - very effective. Not forgetting a trip to @birmingham_mag to complete a busy day ☔️

CENTRAL 2026 Publishers
-
No Go Press is an independent publisher of art books based in the West Midlands, focussing on photography zines and making well-designed works at affordable prices. We exist to highlight unrepresented, exciting photography, and raise public awareness of interesting local creatives.
Many contemporary images produced in the West Midlands either erase all the strangeness and social issues, inviting gentrification over the threshold, or imagine the city as a terrifying depression-scape, emboldening hateful right-wing propaganda. No Go Press acts as a counter-point to this, showing our towns and cities as the complex, compelling and endlessly fascinating places they truly are.

We are really excited to be bringing an incredible line up of publishers to Birmingham for CENTRAL

The photobook fair showcases a diverse range of publishing practices, from high-production, cloth-bound books to experimental book objects, as well as the handmade, the stapled, the photocopied —and everything in between.

Visit the @duplicatepublishingfair at Eastside Projects Friday 5th May, 4-8pm & Saturday 6th May, 12-5pm.

Pop down to @eprjcts this weekend to discover a range of independent artists and small presses selling their zines and publications in a friendly, creative space. There’s a range of free workshops too, including focuses on drawing, collaging and repeat patterns.

The fair is free to attend and open to all; buy something weird and discover something new! Have some zines to sell? Artists are welcome to bring a handful to the communal table before the event starts.
