POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Opening Friday in San Francisco: “NOSTALGIA,” a group show featuring work from 50 artists whose creative interpretations celebrate the phenomenon of nostalgia. Join us from 6-10pm, RSVP link in bio.

Featured Artist: Aaron MacIntyre @noi__am
“Kobe,” Oil & acrylic on canvas, 40 x 30 inches

“It seems accomplishments, goals, and achievements won’t ever measure up to the monsters of joy we expect them to be. The blessings of a well-lived man who is purposeful with his time and hands does not experience rewards tangible enough to hold like trophies of gold. For him, giving a love that cannot be taken.” - An exerpt from artist statement MacIntyre wrote in reflection of the creative process he embarked on to capture this moment of #Kobe

Yesterday was more than an art show.

It was proof that people believe in creating a place where first responders can connect, create, and heal through art.

Thank you to every artist, volunteer, sponsor, donor, and every person who showed up. You helped turn an idea into something real.

This is only the beginning.

Today is the 1 month anniversary of Okami’s passing. In February, I learned of her cancer and the doctor projected that she had about a month to live, but due to Okami’s brave Samurai spirit, she fought hard so that we could have another precious 8 months together. After I got over the initial shock of the diagnosis, it dawned on me that we as humans tend to wait until our loved ones have already passed away before we fully appreciate and honor them. That didn’t seem right to me, so I wanted to do something special for her while she was STILL alive. About 5 months ago, I commissioned an artist to paint a mural in my backyard to commemorate the life of Okami and to portray her courageous battle. This is not only my love letter to Okami, but a dedication to all who are afflicted with cancer now and those who are supporting them. Please know that I am thinking about each and every one of you and sending you healing vibes.

So, honor those you love, today! Don’t wait til tomorrow. Tell them and show them you love and appreciate them before tomorrow never comes.
Shout out to Aaron McIntyre for the awesome work on that mural. @noi__am

Happy #AAPIHeritageMonth from Oakland! Our trailblazing AAPI community and history runs deep - Bruce Lee opened his first martial arts studio here and the first Asian American film came out of The Town - and is beautiful in its diversity.

We celebrate this month, and every month, the AAPI cultures, traditions, artists, and businesses that make Oakland so special. #AAPIHM

@89jorgemartin put on many great performances this year and I’ve been inspired by his ability to hang it all out even when peril seems imminent. Hope 2024 has him accomplishing his championship goals. #artwork #art #commissionart #commissionartwork #

Novelty and all it’s distractions #art is distinct from spontaneity ~ in that disciplined practice achieves for us breathing air from the top of the mountain 🏔️ #beingobjective
