Thank you @chagrinfilmfest for hosting Micronations! I was granted this year's award for Emerging Filmmaker and I'm so delighted! And thank you to Grand Duke Travis, Queen Carolyn, and Prince Philip for making it out for the occasion.

It was a thrill having so many friends and family attend, in addition to a huge portion of our tremendous crew. Chagrin Falls is such a cute place, but don't let that fool you cause this is a formidable fest with awesome volunteers.

It was neat being there as a filmmaker and panel guest as opposed the attendee I usually am. The opening night alone was a head rush! I also love how much they included local students to get them interested in documentaries.

Until next time, Chagrin!

Thank you @nashfilmfest for the “Best New Director” award! Shout out to indie-film-superstar @missannapurna who won this last year and was on the jury this year🙏🏻❤️🙌🏻

Jury statement: “This film is a vibrant, expansive feat of filmmaking that shows us what can be possible with a small budget and big talent. The story pulses with emotion, tenderness, humor, and longing, letting us bask in its earnestness. The original music scores the beating heart of the film, carrying us from beginning to end, and at the center we have Rubyrose Hill, who brings humor, warmth, and vulnerability to Dotty. ‘Crystal Cross’ is a remarkable debut feature: clear-eyed, tender-hearted, and guided by a distinctly poetic voice.”

Thank you @religiontoday !! I view our main character “Dotty” as distinctly American, and I wasn’t sure how she would be perceived by a European audience. It’s good to know Dotty transcends America and connects even with subtitles haha 🙏🏻🤍

Jury statement: “The jury could not overlook a film that charmed us with its refreshing originality and the sincerity of its actors. For successfully addressing important topics such as faith, guilt, depression and the great power of love with humour and irony, the jury wishes to award a special mention to Crystal Cross by Richie James Follin.”

P.S. We had an Italian PA on the crew. My little brother @tonyonrodeo 🇮🇹

WE WON “Best Music”!! Thank you @riffrva 🙏🏻🏆 Music is a GIGANTIC part of @crystalcrossfilm so much so that a lot of @letterboxd lists have us in the “musical” category. We can’t wait to release the soundtrack of original songs by @guards which will also contain the occasional christian rap by @yungjuicybeanlover and the film score by @richiejamesfollin #suicidaljesus
