2016. My first Burning Man. My, how time flies! Today I am reminiscing on the experience that really changed everything for me. I was so excited and grateful to be there with the incredible community that is Camp Charlie (@theunicornsca). These people are the real deal, living by all the principles that @burningman stands for. No sparkle ponies here. 💖 United, we made a camp, an iconic art car, and a family. I’ll never forget the friends I made, the conversations I had, the MUSIC and DANCING, the wonders I saw, the kindness I was shown, and the lessons I learned. Everyone pitched in to plan and execute this mission. I assisted with organizing, painting signs, spraying fire retardant on our fabric parts, helping maintain our communal kitchen, and being on-the-ground safety control.
A week before leaving for the Burn I lost my job, and had my car totaled in a hit-and-run collision. My foundation had been rocked. Burning Man at that point seemed completely frivolous, but I journeyed on. Plus, @lizdevlin had already done my fabulous unicorn mane. 😘
Looking back, I’m so happy I proceeded with my plans.
I was a blank canvas to be filled with inspiration. I saw people working in harmony to build larger-than-life art, showing up with their most authentic and expressive selves, and bringing all the magic with them. 💃🏻✨
I went to epic parties, saw BIG art, dressed up in costumes I’d made, was given all manners of generous gifts (including my ticket and on-Playa gourmet meal delivery from @chefbv 🕊️), attended weddings, fumbled through dust storms, participated in spiritual ceremonies, and witnessed lots and lots of burns. 🔥
I came back from the Playa motivated and determined to return to society and make my lifelong dream happen, to be a working artist. That commitment I made to myself was the catalyst for the creation of @avataradesigns. It feels amazing to look back now at my journey over the past decade, and all the creative things I’ve done. I don’t know if I’ll ever return to Burning Man again, but I’ll forever cherish these memories, and where they led me. We really were #unicorningsohard. 🦄💥

A close friend that I love very much tragically died on the day of my birthday this year, June 3rd...

One of the most uplifting, inspirational, sweetest human beings in my life, and I know true for anyone who knew her...

She was the lead resident live painter, curator for my events (@noiserevolt / @momentive.dnb ) for over 12 years.

scavenging my hard drives to find footage of her was one of the most difficult things I've done in a while...

We are celebrating Amy today right now, as I post this. I wanted y'all to have an opportunity to remember her radiance while we gather her today to honor her as a community & family.

The song I use for this a track I made in 2017 at.pur markerspace creative @noiserevolt warehouse, where Amy helped create magic.

Don't forget to tell the people you love in this life how much you love them as often as you can. You never know when the opportunity to might disappear.

Founder of @noiserevolt and @momentive.dnb
While only being a label since 2022, I threw the first MOMENTIVE party in 2016. Only a year later we booked Alix Perez, then Flexout Audio the year after, Ewol 2019. Since covid we have brought Monty, Skeptical, & DLR for our shows, and next weekend I'm obliged to have the honor of adding another debut to the roster, bringing out a label myself and I know many others in our scene look up to, @overviewuk

I couldn't be more grateful for the support you've shown Momentive and I am proud to provide some of the best events I've ever been to. I truly, deeply deeply care about what we do, and it's nothing more than a labor of love and nothing more. And as time goes on I plan to continue my pursuit of showcasing futurism art and tunes that push boundaries and provide us our soundscape of the future.

I'll be kicking off the night with @catnap_sounds and @grimmlin_brian at 10pm, my two teammates who've been supporting Overview from day 1. We about to lock in y'all, thank you!

We first met Christina in one of her patented wigs when she was launching @morninggloryville in LA in 2015, and she has been family ever since ☺️🫶🥰
