A high schooler with a server rack in his closet. That’s how GalaxyGate started. Now over 10 years later they run their own data centers…

Last weekend the Ship Systems team was down at the NJ Shore for an offsite. We had a literal fireside chat on the beach, where Chase Lauer told us how he got into infrastructure.

He was hosting a server for friends on his laptop. It kept crashing. So he went dumpster diving for parts, built a server, and gave it away for free until he ran out of money and had to start charging. Then he ripped the ceiling out of his closet, put in an AC unit, and installed a rack. He was still in high school.

Then a guy running a Discord bot streaming audio to ~100k people asked him to host it. Chase said he’d do it for free, on two conditions: teach me what you know, and come work for me. That guy has been his senior engineer for ten years.

That’s the kind of partner we want behind our clients’ infrastructure.
GalaxyGate is Ship Systems infra partner for enterprise infrastructure management and self-hosted AI.

For clients who care about privacy, model consistency, and AI cost control, we run their models on GalaxyGate’s data center footprint instead of a hyperscaler. We’ve cut cloud bills by up to 80% from AWS and the like doing it.

Proud to be building with them. Check them out: https://galaxygate.net/

Founder Junto #1 is in the books.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Blockspace Philly.

And.... We’re running it back!

· 12 to 5PM

Last Friday we hosted Philly’s first Gen Audio × Tech meetup, PTE x Audiotool NEXUS, and it exceeded every expectation.

Nearly 60 people came out to explore what’s happening at the intersection of generative audio, AI, and music tech.

Massive thanks to Andreas Jacobi and Mirta Gilson from Audiotool for joining us all the way from Germany to show our developer community what’s possible on their NEXUS platform, with a live DJ set running the whole night to boot.

And to the team that made it run: Aryan Katragadda, Isayah Young-Burke, Randall Spence, Nolan Makatche and Liam Fitzgerald.

Shoutout also to Rithik Kundu, Grace Francisco and Dave Schneider for the early pushes that got this off the ground.

This is just the beginning. We’re building Philly’s third space for founders, and there’s a lot more coming.

Next up, and you don’t have to wait long:

Founder Junto Coworking, Tuesday 8/25 from 12 to 5 PM.
Location: Blockspace Philly

Tonight’s the night. Philly Tech Entrepreneurs is back, and this is the energy we’re bringing.

Today we officially relaunch as an Audiotool Satellite Meetup, kicking it off with a night built around community, music, and where AI-powered creativity goes next.

Forget the conference format and the keynote marathons. This is just founders, developers, designers, researchers, creators, and startup people back in one room together.

We’ll be unveiling Audiotool NEXUS, giving you a first look at the August 23 NEXUS Hackathon, and sharing what’s ahead for the developer workshops. And of course, live music.

Over 50 people have already signed up and only a few spots left. We’re close to maxed out, so RSVP ASAP before we’re full.

Tonight, Friday, August 14, 2026, 6:00 to 9:00 PM EDT
Blockspace Philly Community Coworking, 215 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA
RSVP here: https://www.meetup.com/philadelphia-entrepreneur/events/315894876/

Doors open in a few hours. Swing by and reconnect with Philly’s startup scene.

Big thanks to Audiotool, Aryan Katragadda, Isayah Young-Burke, Randall Spence, Liam Fitzgerald, FACTORY GTM, Ship Systems, and Nolan Makatche for making this happen!
