Bonus new program showcase! This is one that I'll probably only do once, I remember this one but I only remember it because Jennifer Lopez herself produced it lol

(BONUS: MTV's DanceLife Ep. 1 - first 6 minutes/originally premiering on MTV on January 15th, 2007; presented by Vanessa Minnillo-Lachey)

DanceLife was a short-lived but very memorable MTV reality series that premiered in 2007 and followed a group of dancers (of varying backgrounds) in Los Angeles trying to break into the entertainment industry through music videos, tours, commercials and live performances.

The cast included Blake McGrath (who danced for Madonna, Janet Jackson and Britney Spears), Kenny Wormald (a former basketball player turned music video dancer), Celestina Aladekoba (who later appeared in Prince’s “Black Sweat” video), Michelle Maniscalco (a former Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader and runner-up on MTV’s The Wade Robson Project), Staci Flood (formerly of The Pussycat Dolls who performed with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera) and Nolan Padilla, a dancer chasing success while dealing with a difficult past.

But yeah, this first episode is the audition episode, so call it a 'feeling out' process - for me, Nolan stands out the most simply because he's the one who has truly came from nothing and these days he's a pretty accomplished choreographer and he's really an incredible guy (everyone else here is extremely talented too, not trying to single anyone out, I swear lol)

But yeah, a pretty interesting series considering where MTV was going by the time we got to 2007 - what made the series stand out was how raw it felt compared to a lot of MTV reality TV at the time - it focused less on manufactured drama and more on the grind of audition culture, financial struggles, injuries and competition within the dance world (something that can't be faked)

This show is one that I could possibly talk about from start to end but I don't know - maybe in the future, we'll see.
