Chain of Hope has completed another successful surgical support mission to the Jamaica Children’s Heart Centre at the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston, led by local cardiac surgeon Dr Sherard Little. Six children received life-saving open-heart surgery for complex congenital heart conditions:

The surgeries were supported by a dedicated Chain of Hope’s volunteer cardiac team from Birmingham Children’s Hospital , Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Portland Hospital, and Texas Children’s Hospitals, including anaesthetists, intensivists, and ICU nurses.

Thanks to this collaboration with @chainofhopeja , six more children now have the chance to grow up healthy and strong.

A huge thanks to our visiting Chain of Hope team from the UK, supported by Gift of Life International GOLI.

Our volunteer team consisted of lead paediatric Intensivist Dr Zafurallah Intikhab, lead nurse & senior ANP Rachael Morrison, Paediatric Anaesthetist Dr Siaelda Green, Intensivist Antonio Perez Iranzo , ANP Charlotte Salt, and ICU nurses Emma Blackwood, Kate Goldrich & Nula Dempsey.

Our international volunteer team provided support to our Lead local paediatric Cardiac surgeon Dr Sherard Little and his team led by Dr Cleopatra Patterson at the Bustamante Hospital for Children.

Together they worked to save 7 more children in Jamaica suffering from heart disease.

It is amazing to see the growth and development of the local team as they continue to build their capacity to treat Jamaican children with complex congenital heart diseases in the dedicated paediatric cardiac unit in Kingston.

Sunday April 30 I woke up with this song in my head “Grateful - Agent Sasco”..... I’m so GRATEFUL GRATEFUL. But not only am I grateful, I am blessed, overjoyed and filled with emotion. I was anxious and nervous to take this HUGE step in my business and for my business. This is the JMEA Expo, largest exposition in the English-speaking Caribbean…. WOWZA!! Shelly you’re sure? That’s a BIG DEAL!! But I did it, we did it!!

I want to thank a few people:
