There is always that ONE film at a festival that nobody expects…

…and then suddenly everyone is talking about it. 🔥

The film nobody predicted.

The performance nobody saw coming.

The moment everyone remembers.

🎬 Could that film be yours?

The 23rd Abuja International Film Festival is coming October 20–24.

What do you think makes a film become the film everyone talks about?

Ẹ rin wo, Ajanaku sun bi oke. 🕊️💔

The curtain has fallen on another great icon of Yoruba cinema. Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was more than an actor; he was a storyteller, a cultural ambassador and a legend whose talent entertained generations and helped preserve and promote our Yoruba heritage. (The Guardian Nigeria)

For over four decades, many of us watched and admired him on our screens. His discipline, commanding presence and unforgettable performances made Ogogo a household name and an important part of the history of Yoruba cinema.

It is painful to say goodbye, but the legacy he created will continue to live through his work and the generations of actors he inspired.

Ẹ kú ọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀yàn o. Ilé ayé, ọjà; ọ̀run, ilé.

May Almighty Allah forgive Alhaji Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and give his family, friends, colleagues and millions of admirers the strength to bear this great loss. 🤲🏾🕊️

Rest well, Legend. Ogogo lives on through his legacy. ❤️ #Ogogo #TaiwoHassan #AlhajiTaiwoHassan #YorubaLegend #YorubaCinema

"It is very important for Africa to realize that Africa is one."

This powerful reminder anchored a profound moment at the recently concluded Goge Africa Cultural Dialogue and Diplomacy Series.

Veteran Nollywood icon, @ajokesilva took to the panel to sound a stirring call for a renewed knowledge of our identity and deep healing through culture. She reminded us that our stories, our heritage, and our unity remain our strongest tools for diplomacy.

"The more we talk about what brings us together as humanity, the quicker especially through our cultural diplomacy we will heal the wounds of this world."

This is already strong. The tone feels intelligent, experienced, and conversational instead of sounding like a generic motivational post. What will make it even better is tightening the flow slightly, improving rhythm, and adding recognizable examples filmmakers instantly understand.

Here’s a polished version with stronger impact and examples woven in naturally:

A lot of times when I speak with filmmakers, they say it’s expensive to make great films — that memorable films are only made with the most expensive cameras, lights, sound equipment, and actors.

But what if I told you that’s not entirely true? 🎬

Some of the most emotionally powerful films were not made because they had the biggest budgets, but because they understood storytelling, emotion, and atmosphere.

Think about films like:
• Welcome to America
• Paranormal Activity
• Tangerine (shot on iPhone)
• The wedding Party
• Even early Nollywood classics like Osofia in London that people still remember today

What actually makes these films feel cinematic?

✨ Lighting
✨ Color grading
✨ Camera movement
✨ Sound design
✨ Storytelling

The truth is, audiences rarely care about the camera you used.

They care about:
How your film made them feel.
How your characters stayed with them.
How your story connected emotionally.

A beautiful image without emotion is just wallpaper.

Swipe through and level up your filmmaking eye. 👀

Which slide hit you the hardest?👇
