Would I recommend the trail? YES.
Would I recommend the trail in bad weather? Absolutely not. āš ļø

The Nā Pali Coast is considered one of the most dangerous hiking and coastal wilderness areas in the world because it combines nearly every major hiking hazard into one trail:

• exposed cliffs
• unstable terrain
• flash floods
• dangerous ocean conditions
• isolation
• tropical weather shifts
• heat + humidity
• river crossings
• limited rescue access

—and it all exists along one untouched coastline.

The most infamous section is Crawler’s Ledge, about 7 miles in. In dry conditions it already demands focus. In bad weather, the trail turns into slick clay beside vertical drop-offs where even a small mistake can immediately become fatal.

What shocked us most was how fast everything changed.

KauaŹ»i is one of the wettest places on Earth. We experienced hours of nonstop rain, violent river crossings, waterfalls exploding across the trail… then suddenly blue skies and sunshine minutes later.

A calm trail can become dangerous incredibly fast.

This is why they closed the trail (after they let us thru). We luckily were some of the only people on the beach but upon exit found out quickly why there wasn’t any others there because the trail was closed.

I’m thankful for this fun adventurous crew. A team willing to push through the these crazy moments together, looking out for one another, and experience something unforgettable side by side.

Adventure means a lot more when you make it out together. 🌿
