Only in the Smokies does your dinner view come with a black bear sighting across the street by the creek.

We were sitting at the Smoky Mountain Trout House eating dinner and I happened to glance out the window at the right moment. I saw a bunch of people flocking to our restaurants parking lot across the street.

I said to my husband, there’s a lot of commotion going on over there… there must be a bear by the creek.

He got right up and ran across the street, sure enough I was right!

I saw him waving me over and so did one of the waitresses so I ran out. Sadly the bear was gone by the time I got over there. I still claim that spotting and if it weren’t for me, my husband probably wouldn’t have seen that one.

No lions, no tigers, but… BEARS, OH MY!!!

You know you’re in bear country when the first night there, you see a black bear roaming right in the middle of the downtown area.

Row, row, row your boat,
gently down the lake.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Italy is but a dream.
