Yesterday, after six years of persistence, we finally installed our @noocity_groundyourself gardens!🌱🌿 The school's Sustainability Ambassadors, with the support of trainers and employees, dedicated themselves to setting up these gardens, which will support practical classes and allow us to grow fresh produce to use in our productions.

This achievement reinforces our commitment to more sustainable and conscious practices, bringing the school community even closer to nature and promoting healthier eating.🌎🌿♻️

Reflecting on the journey of Natixis Urban Garden, we couldn't be any prouder of how far we've come. In 2024, we continued to make an impact by donating +200kg of harvest to local solidarity institutions. Our partnership with Noocity has empowered our community of gardeners to cultivate not only plants, but also well-being and social connections. Each seed sown symbolizes our commitment to Sustainability and dedication to making a difference in the community. Together, we’re nurturing a greener future! 🌱

GARDENING ON A BOAT
Every green spot in the city Counts! 💙💚

So rewarding to see a Peacock butterfly, humblebee and a ladybug, surrounded by lush edible greens, flowers and tomatoes. In July, I planted my first Noocity gardenbed on my friends' Amsterdam houseboat - an urban gardening concept I discovered in Portugal. Challenging myself to find innovative ways to bring more green to urban spaces, I immediately saw this houseboat as the perfect test location. The constant exposure to wind and sun can be harsh on plants. The innovative Noocity gardening beds have a lightweight structure and a built-in water reservoir which makes it all more easy.

For this floating garden, I've chosen plants that can withstand the elements: sun-loving Mediterranean herbs, compact vegetables like cherry tomatoes, lettuce, alliums, and radishes. I've also planted annual late-bloomers like Cosmos, which are now in full bloom alongside the purple-flowering basil. I see this bed as a 'canvas' that can be replanted with beautiful combinations each season.

I'm excited to see how this garden evolves and adapts to life on the water. 🦋🐞🐝

Special thanks to @ingridlooijmans for her enthusiasm in sharing my passion for gardening.

Gardening on a boat. The best of both worlds. 💙💚

On the deck, I planted a polyculture with my favorite edible plants in a garden bed from Noocity, an urban gardening concept that I discovered in Portugal and I'm excited to introduce in the Netherlands. @noocity_groundyourself Their garden beds have a water reservoir, so no worries if we ever come across a longer period of drought after all the rain we got this year...

Thanks to @ingridlooijmans , good memories of guiding our daughters to the 'school tuintjes' about 15 years ago. Perhaps a seed was planted in us at that time...? 🌿
