POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Prop 39 is straight out of Donald Trump and MAGA’s playbook to undermine our elections. At Housing Now!, we know that the fight for housing justice is inseparable from the fight for our democracy. Every eligible Californian deserves the right to cast their vote and have it counted.

HANDS OFF OUR VOTE. VOTE NO ON PROP 39!

Tell Trump: Hands off California's elections!
Vote NO on Prop 39.

Prop 39 makes voting harder, puts voters' personal information at risk, costs taxpayers hundreds of millions, and delays election results.

California already requires people registering to vote to attest under penalty of perjury that they are U.S. citizens and provide information that election officials use to verify their identity.

Adding another hurdle to voting risks disproportionately affecting Californians who already face barriers to civic participation, including voters with low incomes, older adults, people with disabilities, and many others who may have greater difficulty providing qualifying identification.

California must stand up against the global wave of fascism to protect our right to civically participate without fear or intimidation.

This election, Californians will make decisions that shape our state’s ability to fund affordable housing, schools, health care, food assistance, and other essential services for years to come.

At End Child Poverty Institute (ECPI), we looked at the statewide ballot through a simple lens: Will this help California build a state where every child and family has the resources to thrive?

✅ Yes on Prop 1: Support
Invest in affordable housing for children and families!

✅ Yes on Prop 3: Support
Vote YES on Prop 3 to help preserve the education system California kids and families depend on.

✅ Yes on Prop 40: Support
Prop 40 makes billionaires pay their fair share through a one-time tax to protect children, workers, and families!

❌ No on Prop 39: Oppose
Protect our sacred right to vote!

❌ No on Prop 41: Oppose
A billionaire funded proposition that will create new barriers to raising state revenue to fight back cuts to healthcare and food assistance!

❌ No on Prop 42: Oppose
Don’t permanently take progressive revenue options off the table while child and family services are cut!

❌ No on Prop 43: Oppose
Vote No on Prop 43 to protect your vote and keep the power where it belongs: with you and your neighbors.

Over the next few days, we’ll break down what each proposition does and why it matters for California’s children and families.

Prop 39 is a Trump-backed ballot measure to restrict voting in California and help Republicans avoid accountability. Vote NO on 39 by November 3.

Association President Adam Weinberger asks members to vote YES on Prop 3 or our schools could lose millions. Prop 3 is not a new tax. It simply keeps an existing tax in place that only applies to the state’s highest earners: individuals making more than $371,000 a year, or households making more than $740,000. That’s it. Nothing changes for you or your family.

What will change is what happens to your school and your job security if Prop 3 fails. California schools and community colleges stand to lose up to $15 billion a year, money that pays for the programs, services, and jobs your community depends on, including jobs like yours. This is money your district has relied upon for more than a decade.

CSEA is focusing on three Propositions below:

YES! - Proposition 3 is a critical tool for maintaining a stable and progressive revenue stream for the state. The revenue from this tax, estimated at ten billion dollars in 2025, is essential for funding TK-12 schools, community colleges, and Medi-Cal, California's health care program for low-income individuals.

No! - Proposition 39 represents a fundamental threat to democracy that would impose significant, unnecessary burdens, effectively disenfranchising millions of Californians’ ability to exercise their right to vote.

No! - Proposition 43 represents a sophisticated and dangerous attempt to overhaul California’s tax and fee structures, posing an existential threat to local government stability, school facility funding, and essential public services. In short, this initiative would cripple the government's ability to provide the essential public services we all count on, strip voters' rights to weigh in on how tax dollars are spent, and let corporations off the hook for paying taxes that they currently have to pay.

In its recent email, Pasadena Housing Providers put out the most right wing voting recommendations on the State propositions. You could literally just vote the opposite and be on the right side of history.

These are the people trying to take away our tenant protections. Makes sense.

We will take these measures one-by-one and look at how destructive these recommendations are, starting with one of the worst—Prop 39—a Trumpworld effort to suppress the vote.

This isn’t about election security. It’s about getting women’s votes thrown out. California already threw out 122,000 mail ballots last election and the single biggest reason was signature problems. Not fraud. Handwriting.
Now Prop 39 wants to stack a second gate on top: the last four digits of your ID, matched perfectly, or the ballot’s discarded.

Check that the signature you’ll sign matches the one on your California driver’s license. Then vote NO on Prop 39 so ballots get counted, not trashed.
