This Independence Day, we free our seas from plastic. True freedom will come when we learn to respect our ecosystem. With plastic pollution increasing due to urbanization, we see more debris washing ashore every monsoon. Thank you to over 30 dedicated volunteers who joined us on Caranzalem Beach to combat this issue. Stay tuned for our next clean-up drive as we continue to protect our oceans!

🎥 thank you @roystenredbull for shooting

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2024🇮🇳💔🕯️
We organized a spontaneous candle march outside GMC College in Goa and within hours, we saw a tremendous turnout of over a 100 locals, tourists and doctors from Goa Medical College. As midnight struck, we walked outside GMC Hospital demanding justice for the R.G. Kar rape case and we demanded a safe working environment for our doctors at Goa Medical College — where they work in poorly lit conditions, with inadequate CCTV coverage, and no transport between the old and new hospital buildings. 💔💔
It’s heartbreaking that in our 78th year of independence, we still have to fight for basic rights—respect, justice, safety. Today is Independence Day, but true freedom eludes us until every citizen feels secure in this country. Let’s not stay silent. Share this reel and join us in demanding justice for every human facing injustice in our country. 🇮🇳 💔

Grateful for everyone who joined us in Goa for a peaceful demonstration against the proposed Forest Conservation Amendment Bill 2023
thank you @neh.a.red for this initiative 🌳

🌳The Forest Conservation Amendment Bill 2023 will be tabled in the monsoon session of the parliament starting on 20th July. This amendment bill seeks to open most of India's natural, biodiversity, rich old growth forests and several other vulnerable ecosystems for commercialisation, infrastructure development, industrialisation and other purposes.

These are some of the issues with the new amendment:

1) Many areas that are not classed as official forests but important ecosystems such as mangroves, that protect the states coastline, and sacred groves will no longer be protected under the Forest Conservation Act.

2) Forests can be diverted for non-forest activity such as zoos and eco-tourism. This will lead to a ballooning of construction in all our forests.

3) No permissions required for some projects in forest areas within 100 km of our international borders. This will open up huge tracts of forests in the North East and the Himalayas states to roads, railways and other infrastructure activity, without any regulatory oversight.

Let’s continue our united efforts in safeguarding our forests and preserving the natural heritage of our nation! 🌍💚 #ForestConservation #ProtectOurForests #SaveOurForests #ScrapFCAbill2023 @letindbreathe @mymollem.goa @actforgoa
