My documentary ‘Jeuk!’ about eczema premiered at the @filmacademie🤩

The past few months were full of research, interviews and documentary making. Through my research I found that every year more people suffer from eczema in the Netherlands. And more than 25% of them are ashamed of their own skin…

So I wrote and directed ‘Jeuk!’ (‘Itch!’). A real story following 3-year-old Noussair, who suffers from extreme eczema. His mom Fatima tries to find the best solutions against the itch and complications on his lungs, from diets to medicines. Seeing this story come to life was even more special, because I used to suffer from eczema myself!!🥺

Big love to the @rijksmuseum for having us back at the Next Tuinparty 💚 Hot weather, cold drinks, good people, and a garden that turned into a dancefloor real quick. With a full house of 60 (!) PACT members we caught up, met new faces, networked, and fully enjoyed the sun before it disappeared into the night. Already counting down to the next one.

Na een indrukwekkende première in het DeLaMar Theater is het eindelijk zover: de documentaire 𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡 is vanaf vandaag gratis te zien op Cinetree.⁠

We leven steeds meer langs elkaar heen. Polarisatie groeit, eenzaamheid neemt toe en met steeds meer mensen lijkt het niet goed te gaan. Zegt dat iets over ons, of over onze samenleving? In deze nieuwe Cinetree Original zoekt Hanna Verboom een antwoord op die urgente vraag.

De documentaire brengt inspirerende verhalen en vernieuwende initiatieven samen van mensen die bouwen aan meer verbinding; vaak onder de radar, maar van onschatbare waarde voor onze mentale gezondheid en samenleving.

NextDoc 🤍

Het afgelopen halfjaar heb ik elke woensdagavond mijn documentairekennis mogen verbreden dankzij alumni’s van de filmacademie. Ze hebben ons geschoold in o.a. dramaturgie, inspiratie, interviewtechnieken en technische vakken omzetten naar verhalend vertellen.

Hoofddocent @sammyshefaidris heeft mij en mijn getalenteerde klasje de ruimte gegeven om te groeien als creatieve makers, maar ook op persoonlijk vlak.

Zo is een van mijn leukste herinneringen met jullie toen er, voor het eerst in mijn 21e jaren, in het Surinaams “Lang Zal Ze Leven” voor me werd gezongen. Of toen ik met mijn braids de klas binnenliep en iedereen gilde; een voorbeeld van hoeveel de juiste omgeving betekent voor je groei als persoon.

Ik heb ongelofelijk veel over mezelf en mijn medemens mogen leren. Met prachtig resultaat: Naag Nool.
