When I taught DancEast’s first class in 2008, we had eight students. I wanted to create a place where people could dance, feel welcome, and find community.

Looking at these photos, I think about all the people who have helped that idea grow—the teachers, families, dancers, and friends who have each brought something of themselves to DancEast. This carousel of images only shows a few of the people who’ve made DancEast what it is today, because there are so many incredible people who have joined in the mission through the years!

What keeps me invested is still personal: seeing someone find the courage to try a class, watching friendships take root, and knowing that dance has become a meaningful part of someone’s life.

Eighteen years later, I’m grateful to still be a part of it.
