Join curator and AAFR founder Ashara Ekundayo (@blublakwomyn) at the Detroit-based art fair and cultural initiative @season.contemporary from September 11th-13th. Season Fair focuses on building market infrastructure for artists, galleries, and cultural workers.

Ashara joins organizers, partners, and supporters on Thursday, September 10th for the Opening Remarks of Season Talks, a one-day public symposium focused on contemporary art and the ideas, questions, and practices shaping the field today. Guests will be encouraged to reflect the questions animating the day: how artists shape culture, how institutions can create new possibilities, and what becomes possible when we make space for conversation, experimentation, and exchange.

Ashara will be sharing about Artist As First Responder’s archive expansion via PS_Detroit (Projection Site Detroit), a trans-local archival and cultural infrastructure portal.

The Season Talks Opening Remarks take place Thursday, September 10th from 11:30am to 12:00pm at the Collage for Creative Studies. Admission is open and free to the public. You can find the RSVP link in our bio or at season-fair.com.

Ashara will also be hosting a Season Tour on Saturday, September 12th from 1 to 2pm. Tours are intimate opportunities to experience Season Fair through the perspectives of curators, writers, collectors, and arts leaders with deep ties to Detroit and the broader contemporary art field. A HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us for ICI’s 50th Anniversary Gala, celebrating 50 Years of Curatorial Impact and our Leo Award Honorees: Mariane Ibrahim (Empowering Curators), Julie Mehretu and Paul Pfeiffer (Promoting Innovation), and Helen & Peter Warwick (Championing Curators’ Impact on Communities). Guests enjoyed cocktails and a seated dinner, and helped raise donations for ICI’s Access Fund.
