MYS 2026
It’s more than the yachts
It’s friends I’ve known for decades, like minded networking opportunities, acknowledging each other’s achievements, fusing working relationships you know will last another few decades beyond.

It’s being unapologetically, yourself, revelling in that you did good, you made a change & you are exactly, where your supposed to be x

Happy Birthday USA!
Created as an acrylic impasto showing the founding fathers, the Declaration of Independence and the USS Alfred, a Continental Navy ship during the American Revolution notable because it was the first ship to hoist the Grand Union Flag, an early American flag, on December 3, 1775.

There is much more happening through The International SeaKeepers Society than most people realize.

In this conversation, Norma Trease, CEO of @seakeepers, shares two recent initiatives: tracking dolphins, whales, and other marine wildlife in Bahía Golfito, Costa Rica, and collecting heat-resilient coral in the Exumas to support future reef restoration efforts.

The coral is then taken to the Perry Institute for Marine Science, where it is cultivated before being returned to the reef.

Projects like these show how owners, crew, builders, and the wider yachting community can play a meaningful role in protecting the oceans we all enjoy.

Thank you, Norma, for sharing more about SeaKeepers’ work with us.

Follow @seakeepers to learn more about their conservation, research, and education initiatives.

THE FUTURE OF FLORIDA’S MARITIME WORKFORCE IS BEING BUILT RIGHT HERE IN BROWARD COUNTY.

Last night, Captain Sandy’s Charities had the opportunity to experience Broward College’s Marine Technology Center of Excellence and see firsthand what happens when education meets real-world maritime careers.

Inside this approximately 30,000-square-foot training environment, students are not simply learning about the marine industry. They are developing hands-on technical skills designed to lead to credentials, careers and economic opportunity.

For Captain Sandy’s Charities, this is exactly what maritime workforce development should look like.

Our vision is to help build stronger bridges between Florida’s students, post-secondary education and the maritime industry, creating pathways that can connect education and training to internships, apprenticeships, industry credentials and ultimately employment.

Broward College represents an extraordinary opportunity to help strengthen that pipeline here in the heart of one of the world’s most important marine communities.

Thank you to Lori Wheeler and the Marine Industries Association of South Florida for continuing to bring education and industry together and for supporting Captain Sandy’s Charities as we work to expand maritime career pathways across Florida.

This is bigger than boats.

It is education.
It is workforce development.
It is economic mobility.
It is Florida’s next generation.

And we are just getting started.

Thank you to the International Superyacht Society.

On March 25th, the ISS hosted their 2026 Leadership Series at the Canopy by Hilton in downtown West Palm Beach. It was a two-hour thought leadership session bringing together the sharpest minds in yachting to tackle the future: AI in maritime operations, alternative fuels, next-gen vessel design, and the workforce that makes all of it possible.
Captain Sandy’s Charities was honored to be part of that conversation. Captain Sandy Yawn, Founder and Randi Gold, Executive Director of Captain Sandy’s Charities were given the opportunity to share our mission, impact and true classroom to career maritime workforce program pathways.

The dynamic duo aka #SanRan presented the real data behind Florida’s maritime workforce crisis:
Florida’s marine economy generates $96 billion in gross state product and supports over 900,000 jobs statewide.
South Florida alone accounts for $18.5 billion in annual economic output and 142,000 direct marine jobs.
The Florida maritime sector is valued at $14.6 billion and 40% of that workforce is retiring within 10 years.
27% of the maritime workforce is already 55 or older. 25% of shipyard workers will be retirement-eligible within five years.
Shipyard order books are already stretched 24 to 36 months.
250,000 additional maritime workers are needed this decade.
37% junior crew turnover rate. The pipeline is leaking as fast as we build it.
60% of young people have zero exposure to maritime career pathways.
The crisis is real. The solution is here.
Captain Sandy’s Charities has built a statewide, classroom-to-career maritime pathway across all 67 counties, reaching 1.7 million students, educators, and families.
To every organization and individual that has rallied around this mission. Thank you.
And to those who paved the way before us,including and especially Norma Trease, who founded The Crew Network in 1989 with 21k in savings and built the worlds first global superyacht crew placement agency, we see you, and we carry your work forward!!!!.
This is for every student and young person who’s ready to work For an industry that cannot afford to wait. We got you! #maritime #workforce

Fort Lauderdale always brings the right people together.

Triton Expo at the Superyacht Village was a reminder of that.

Vendors.
Suppliers.
Captains.
Crew.
Industry familiar faces.
And the kind of conversations that keep this world moving forward together.

There’s something special about spaces like this…
You come for the event,
but you leave remembering the people.

The quick catch-ups.
The unexpected conversations.
The shared ideas.
The energy of an industry that never stands still.

And beyond the stands, the setups, and the business being done…
that’s what always stands out most.

The connection.

Good people.
Good conversations.
A great atmosphere.
And a lot of fun along the way.

That’s what made Triton Expo such a good one.

Who did you enjoy seeing at the event?
