Guess who graduated!? 🎓🥳
Congratulations to all IAIA graduates! I’m so honored to have walked the stage alongside friends, family, colleagues, and faculty 🫶🏽 This moment feels surreal!!! It is something I’ve dreamed of since I started at IAIA 😭
A huge thank you to all my family members and friends who showed up to witness this special moment! 😊 It truly meant the world to me 💕🌎 I appreciate everyone who supported me on this journey and along my path as an artist 🎨💕
I can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of us 🥺✨

Shoutout to my little sister for capturing some of these moments 📸🤞🏽. She a real one ❤️🙂‍↕️

Where the aihec is that? Northdafuckin Kota? Where the Mellow Yellow flows like water. And the volleyball tourney is single round elimination.

AIHEC 2026 ✨🤎✨

Even though we had a cold start, this aihec was still super fun <3
Critical inquiry, engineering, and handgames was so fun to compete in and have fun with one another

I had the honor of being the IAIA handgames team captain and designing our team skirts !! It was my first year being team captain and I was so nervous but having my team by my side made it so fun :) and we all looked amazing out there 🤭

I always look forward to seeing all the TCUs come together and being in community with everyone. This year made so many great memories and new friends <3

“Education as Reclamation”

8x10 and 4x5 B&W Film

This photo series came from a narrative assignment for my Alternative Camera-Work class last fall. It’s much more than an assignment to me and I’m so grateful to everyone who showed up to be apart of this narrative.

At the time I had been thinking a lot about how western education was forced upon native people some years ago, yet here we are, still participating in a western ideology. I did a lot of reflecting on this and came to realize that in choosing to continue into higher education, indigenous people are reclaiming knowledge and power in order to succeed in the world we inevitably live in.
I wanted to reclaim this power for myself and mimic old black and white photographs of indigenous people who were stolen and exploited, but this time we are claiming our own image and education. As I reach closer to my graduation, I’m grateful to have attended a native institute that allows us to grow into this knowledge with an indigenous framework.

Thank you to these beautiful souls, I couldn’t have done this without you! Wopila ✨
