A natural palette, expressed through material, texture and tone. Warm timber and muted green create a subtle connection to the surrounding landscape.

Lashings of caramel cork and butter yellow frame the café’s conversation pit. We clad seating in retro brown carpet to seal its lounge-like ambience.

Every detail in a home should have a purpose.

For this Balmain renovation, Know-How Flooring was entrusted with the complete timber flooring package—from meticulous subfloor preparation through to the supply, installation, and sand & polish of Select Grade 80mm solid NSW Spotted Gum.

Finished in a clear extra matte coating, the floor celebrates the natural warmth and variation of this iconic Australian hardwood while maintaining a clean, understated aesthetic.

A subtle design feature throughout the ground floor is the change in board direction at each wall, thoughtfully defining individual spaces while maintaining a seamless flow through the home. It's a small detail that adds another layer of architectural intent to the finished result.

A pleasure collaborating with Architect George and North House Projects, delivering a timeless floor built to complement the home's architecture for decades to come.

A good paint job isn’t just what you see at the end, it’s everything that happens before the first coat goes on.

There’s a lot behind the scenes: sanding, filling, caulking and uncovering issues that aren’t always visible straight away. On older homes especially, it’s common to find areas that need attention before any paint goes near it.

This home the timber is from the Noah ark era. So extra attention is definitely needed.

Proper prep protects the timber, helps the paint bond properly, and gives a finish that actually lasts.

It’s not about doing more for the sake of it, it’s about doing it right so it holds up for years to come.

A little extra care, goes a long way.
