Preparing you for a career in ministry! Two years of hands-on ministry experience, graduate education, and a cohort that grows with you.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Here are the three biggest takeaways from my last two years in the North Point Residency Program.

1. Be surrounded by people who will make you a better you. Iron sharpens iron!!!!!! & when I say be surrounded, I mean on all sides. I’ve never been in a place where I’ve had so many people who wanted to pour into me, not to get anything from me, but to help me get to where God wanted me to be, while also helping to shape and mold me along the way. My mentors, friends, coaches, leaders, & family have been the greatest blessings. Community is everything.

2. This goes along with #1, It’s not about what you accomplish, but who you become. I will never forget when one of my Mentors said to me, “Ava, when you get to the end of this program and look back on those two years, what do you want to be able to say? Will it be about what “you’ve done” (in parentheses because it’s really what God’s done) or who you became. This was the moment when my entire perspective shifted. It wasn’t about what I was gaining or what I would “accomplish,” it was about the kind of person and leader that I hoped to become one day. It was about what I could GIVE.

3. Lastly, it’s about people. Yes, it’s hard work, yes it’s a job that many of us get paid to do, and YES the Church is a messy place full of broken people. But we GET to do this. We get to be God’s vessels to love His people. We get to be a witness to SO MUCH life change. Getting to do life with and for God is the greatest gift I’ve ever been given and I wouldn’t trade it for the whole world.

I will forever be thankful for these last couple of years and the impact it has left on me. I am more free, more healed, restored, renewed, and grateful than I have ever been before. God’s plan for your life will ALWAYS be better than anything you could imagine for yourself. His love is the greatest gift.

I am deeper in love with the Lord, deeper in love with the Church, and I love my people more than anything else in this whole wide world. Here are as many places and people I could fit in a few pictures that have helped to change me for the better. I’m grateful for the people and places that became Home to me 🤍.

Still processing our Residency trip to California…

The week was full in the best way. Visiting churches, long bus rides, shared meals, and a lot of conversations with pastors and leaders who care deeply about the Church and the people in their cities. I left really grateful for the chance to see how God is moving in places outside of my own context and to learn from people who have been faithfully doing this for a long time.

One thing that stuck with me is that faith usually lives in the space between where you are and what God is calling you into. Hebrews says without faith it’s impossible to please God. That gap can feel uncomfortable, but it’s also where a lot of growth happens.

@billwillits @nataliekitchen @juliajoannsullivan @ryan_flora1 thank you for the way you lead the Residency and for how much you invest in us. The time, care, and intentionality you put into weeks like this really means a lot.

To the churches and teams who welcomed us in, gave us tours, shared meals, and let us sit in on real conversations about ministry. Thank you for being so generous with your time and for letting us learn from you. @malibupacificchurch @saddlebackchurch @newvintagechurch @menlo.church !!!!

And to everyone who prayed for us and supported Grant and I so we could go on this trip. Truly thank you. We felt that support all week and we’re really grateful.

Feeling really thankful for this week and for the ways God keeps growing my love for Him and His Church.

He is holy. He is trustworthy. He is good.

I thank God everyday that I get to serve alongside my friends. Daytona truly has such a special place in my heart, every year I’m reminded that God sees me. I’m reminded that God loves me because of who he’s placed in my life, I’m reminded that chooses God’s way is better than choosing my way.

This week I had the opportunity to lead some wonderful girls. This generation is on fire for the Lord! Thank you God!
