It would be easier for everyone if I just didn’t do this.

The marathon might even be the easy part. When I go out of town sans kids for any amount of time, it requires a lot from my husband and my village. Coordinating the details is like playing chess on a deep sea fishing boat. And for my husband, solo parenting young kids with a physical disability is not exactly a walk in the park, either. I continue to be so so grateful for our families and our friends who show up for us. 🫶🏻

So this year, once again, I made it. My hope was to finish in less than 2 hours and I did it with 21 seconds to spare! But in reality, my goal is to finish. Period. 😅

I’m constantly trying to find that sweet spot of selflessly serving my family while taking care of myself. Making the trip to Duluth every year to accomplish this is a feat. It takes planning and prep and many Should-I-Even-Do-This moments. But after all is said and done, the feeling of going out there and doing the dang thing is pretty worth it. 💪🏻

(Not to mention my kids think I’m the coolest for winning a medal, so 😮‍💨🏅)

For many years, the NorthShore Inline Marathon has made giving back to local families an important part of race weekend, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued partnership and support of the Northern Lights Foundation.

This year, their generous donation of more than $8,000 will help us continue providing unrestricted grants to local families whose children are facing life-threatening illnesses.

And we want to give a very special shout-out to Christy, who helps make the Northern Lights Foundation Kid Sprints such a fun and memorable part of race weekend for our youngest racers. Year after year, she brings so much energy and enthusiasm to the event and makes sure those kids feel like the stars they are! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💙

Jake was the youngest finisher of the @focofondo 32mi bike ride in July and during the gravel race, he kept saying, “I could do this on my blades. When’s the next big rollerblade race?” Turns out, inline skating distance races are few and far between. Very. (Like 3 in the US and then you’re looking abroad.) But Google searches led me to Duluth and the 30th anniversary of the Northshore Inline Skating Marathon @northshoreinline. So I bought us plane tickets to Minnesota? 3 weeks ago, Jake became the youngest finisher in at least 15 years of this 26.2mi race. He then doubled his distance PR, skating 58 miles during the #GreenbriarUltra two weeks later. You’d ask where he came from, but we know this flavor of crazy. @visit_duluth @k2.skates @treecraftdesignbuild

NORTHSHORE 2026!

We can't believe it has already been a week since the biggest race in the US took place. Northshore was full of fun, community, and victories! Swipe to read what our US Ambassadors had to say about their highlights this year.

Biggest thank you to @northshoreinline for putting on an amazing event, the volunteers who brought it together, and of course, the skaters who traveled from near and afar to complete the race!
