"Take it slow and give your soul a chance to catch up with your body"

Took a little headlamp hike up to the mountain to see this unbelievably beautiful October sunset.

There’s something about watching the sun set that puts life back into perspective. Mind gets quieter, the heart feels lighter, and for a moment, everything is exactly as it should be. 🌄💛

"A beloved child has many names.”

This is an old Finnish proverb, also known in other Nordic countries—or so I assume. It speaks to how children, whom we love and cherish, are often given many different names. The peoples of the North share this saying—just as the northern lights connect those who live beneath the northern sky.

In various languages and cultures, these dancing lights also have their own, numerous names. An October night, a touch of frost, and a sky that suddenly springs to life. Lights begin to dance softly in the darkness, as if the sky itself has awakened to tell its own story. On some nights, that story is more vivid, more exciting, and more colorful than on others.

But what names do we give to these lights dancing in the sky?

Revontulet (fox fires), taivaantulet (fires of the heavens), pohjoisen tulet (northern lights), Aurora Borealis… and many other expressions used in everyday language.

This cherished phenomenon has many names, and each one carries its own unique nuance of northern magic. Perhaps the most beautiful thing of all is that there has never been a need for just a single name for the northern lights.

When you stand beneath an October sky, surrounded by silence, watching the colorful dance unfold above you, you can call them whatever you like. They remain the very same wonder nonetheless.

A beloved child goes by many names. Just like each of our beloved children, Northern lights are unique—and let’s not forget that there is a little child living inside every one of us ✨💚✨
