🌹Story story.. Hadithi hadithi... Hadithi njoo, ukweli njoo. Utamu koleaaa...🌹 Hapo zamani za kale, in the lands far and wide, there were women who were healers, priestesses and warriors. They were keepers of the gates of ancient knowledge between spirit and flesh, between life and death. They knew the language of the earth, bled as one to the rhythm of the moon tides. They knew the secrets of the herbs, and navigated the flow of the mystic wild water. Daughters of the Orisha Oya, they breathed as one the wind of life into the earth the storm of transmutation and healed through the warmth of sisterhood. Woman blood. Woman roots. Woman womb. Woman moon. Thank you TASUBA college for the very warm welcome and for hosting Mitazamo Yetu. 💛 Through Frozen Power - our contemporary dance work inspired by Liti Kidanka, a female healer and resistance leader from Tanzania - we opened a conversation on restitution, memory, and cultural heritage. We left inspired by the openness, curiosity, and generosity of everyone who joined the discussion afterwards. Hearing so many thoughtful perspectives reminded us why it is so important that Tanzanian voices are part of these conversations. Asante sana to everyone who shared their voice. After an inspiring and thought-provoking discussion in Bagamoyo at TASUBA college, Mitazamo Yetu continues its journey to the University of Dar es Salaam. Join us for Frozen Power - a contemporary dance work inspired by Liti Kidanka, a female healer and resistance leader from Singida who opposed German colonial rule. The performance explores women’s role in resistance and the restitution of human remains and cultural artefacts taken during colonial times. The conversations in Bagamoyo reminded us how important Tanzanian perspectives are in shaping discussions around restitution. We now look forward to hearing the voices, ideas, and questions of students, young people and teachers at UDSM. 📅 Thursday 25 June 2026 🕙 (10:00 AM) Delayed to 3PM. 📍 University of Dar es Salaam Performance followed by an audience discussion.
