A Beautiful Goodbye to August at the Shop!

Each week, we open up the shop’s decks through Dig + Disconnect and Selector Saturdays — two listening-first programs that extend our education + community work into the real world.
Last week/end, the tables were held down by @noshaluv and @taylorthompson_22 — with a few familiar faces from our Miyagi Education cohorts in the mix. Come through each week to catch burgeoning talent, deep listening, and the kind of room where people grow in public (without the pressure).
Join us this Friday for OPEN DECKS, and Saturday for Selector Saturdays w/ @periellagreen

🪩 RAHAAN × NOSHA LUV
FRIDAY, AUGUST 14TH @californiaclipper

Rahaan — legendary DJ, producer, master crate-digger, and selector — has been carrying the spirit of Chicago’s house, disco, funk, gospel, and soul from the late ’80s to dance floors around the world. 🌎
Joining him is Nosha Luv, Chicago-born vinyl selector and curator of all things Disco, Boogie, Soul & Chicago House. From Nice Night 4 A Jam to dance floors from Chicago to Brazil, Spain, and the UK, Nosha brings a deep love for the groove and a sound that keeps bodies moving. 💃🏾🕺🏾
Two selectors. One shared love for the groove

This was a moment.

@ctrlzora dropped a 🔥 blend, the boulevard answered with an impromptu line dance, and now everyone agrees this back-to-back-to back with @oliviaraven___ and @noshaluv needs to happen again.

Watch until the end to hear what @ctrlzora suggests should be the name of the party.

Drop your name for this party in the comments.

Go With The Soul & Disco Selection was inspired after a conversation with Rich Medina. As a Dj how often do I ‘play’, with music with no particular purpose other than pure enjoyment.
This is the result, Go With The Soul represents some of the music I love.

The first hour is lifted from my Spread Love on BCFM. Focusing on my love for Sweet Soul, Jazz Funk both old and new, with releases from Mr Bongo Vol 8 and Daptone Records. Features the likes of The Blackbyrds, Jalen Ngonda, Sun, The Womack Sisters, The Sylvers and Erykah Badu.

The second hour focuses on the exquisiteness of Latin infused and Rare Disco with a full orchestra; featuring music from MFSB, Jimmy Sabater, Salsoul Orchestra, Ashford & Simpson and The CJP Band…..

Full tracklisting below.

Special mention to DJ Marcia Carr Da Vinyl MC, Kev Beadle & DJ Nosha Luv - Chicago: are incredible DJ / Selectors with depth of knowledge, passion and have been my inspiration for years.
Extra special love to my mum Lorraine Wilson who has the best taste in music. Biggest love & respect to you all.
Enjoy the goodness and thank you for listening. xx

One of our favorite moments from the last Vibes.

@oliviaoliveliv setting up @noshaluv during our first-ever back-to-back-to-back set on the boulevard.

The cheers hit before the blend even had a chance to settle in.

That’s what happens when two selectors are speaking the same musical language.

Big love to @bricktownsound for bringing this collaboration to Vibes.
