Dedicated to brilliant brewing

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Alright, Glasgow’s done it twice on the UK top ten for the European Coffee Trip Awards. Two Glasgow shops, seeing another Glasgow name on the top 10, makes us proud for the city.

But first, not being on a list doesn’t mean a shop isn’t good or isn’t brilliant. There are shops in Glasgow that aren’t on any list that are every bit as good, if not better. Lists are a moment, a vote count, a bit of luck and timing. Nothing more. We’ve been fortunate to land on a few over the years, and we know fine well that plenty of our friends are grinding away just as hard, just as daft and aren’t on this one.

Glasgow’s specialty coffee scene is leading the UK right now, Every single Glasgow specialty shop is a different flavour of daft, every single one holding its own.

You have to be a bit mental to open a coffee shop, Glasgow’s got that special kind of emotional psychosis in spades. Just ordinary people opening extraordinary shops and somehow making it work. That’s the Glasgow thing, That’s why we’re on these lists.

And Ottomans has got a lot to improve, not pretending we’ve cracked it. Every day there’s something to fix (wobbly tables), being cheerful when someone orders a pour over a few minutes after we open, or when we are about to close. something we’ve not quite got right yet. Being on a list, makes us look harder at ourselves and see a lot of flaws.

So thanks for voting, thanks for showing up, two of us in the UK top ten, and we’re proud of that. But we’re proud of this whole scene too, list or no list.

But let’s be honest, we’re no just proud, we’re the absolute best at everything we do, obviously. anyone know a guy that can get us a good deal on a Porsche? Asking for a friend.

About a year ago, I decided to go all in on what the cool kids call a ‘multi-roaster’ cafe. 12 months in and we’re giving it our best shot. At present 13 roasters occupy the shelves with a mix of approachable daily drivers and more exotic, unique stuff.

You’ll find most of the coffees on our retail shelves, also on our very very frequently changing espresso and pourover menu. Our coffee selection doesn’t really fit into one lane with a broad selection of process, origin and terroir driven lots. There’s something to discover for everyone.

Now that the dust has settled on our other major events and festivals for the year, we are locking in for the upcoming competition cycle. It has been a long time since we've thrown down on a judge's table, so go easy on us while we shake off the rust 🏆

Here is where we’ll be over the next few months:

29.10 | V60 Championship @allpressespresso
30.10 | Caretta Cup 2026 @moonstruck.cafe
12.11 | Cafec Brewers Cup @saintespresso
14.11 | Tarung Tiga @nostoscoffee

Come hang out, watch us sweat over water chemistry, and drink some amazing coffees! Best of luck everyone 🖤☕️

A little taster of some of the incredible roasters we’ve had on the bar and retail shelves over the last weeks.

We’re currently serving @caravanroastery @obadiahcoffeeroasters @scenerycoffeeroasters @taithcoffee @nostoscoffee @17grams and @plotroasting across espresso, decaf, filter and hand brews on the @orea.uk bar.

Retail shelves are packed with your weekend brewing needs.

Have a great day 😊

This is happiness in a box and you need it 😍

Thanks again to the incredible boys at @vex.coffee for sending over what is an absolutely incredible box.

@nostoscoffee and @baristocracy in the same box 🔥

I'm pouring Baristocracy here. Rwanadan, Anaerobic process with tasting notes of peach, plum and butterscotch. It's juicy and smooth 🤤

I massively respect these lads... Like hugely. They work so hard to find the best coffee roasters and secure bags for their boxes. I'm always blown away by them. You get incredible value from the box.

I'm gonna put a link in my bio to their boxes, I don't benefit from this and I haven't been asked to do it... I just genuinely think they're deserving of success. Go and check them out ♥️
