ODOS GLOBAL ROLL CALL 🌍 - VOL. 7

This week, we spotlight five ODOS talents whose work reminds us that Caribbean creativity is not one lane, one sound, one screen, or one stage.

It is global. It is layered. It is moving.

Life Garland brings veteran screen craft to the room — a filmmaker, editor, and director whose career spans award-winning music videos, film, and television, with recent chapters including The Tall Boy’s Diversity in Cannes win and shadow directing on Outer Banks.

Tevin Daniel represents the power of Caribbean talent on the world stage. From Disney’s The Lion King to the West End company of MJ The Musical, he carries movement, discipline, and performance excellence into some of theatre’s most demanding rooms.

Notch is proof that Caribbean sound has always been borderless. From Born Jamericans to his Spatoinglish fusion of reggae, dancehall, Latin, R&B, and global pop, his music lives at the intersection of cultures, markets, and generations.

La Shaun turns movement into scholarship, wellness, performance, and cultural export. As a choreographer, performer, educator, and researcher, she continues to show why soca, dance, and Caribbean movement deserve serious global study and celebration.

Horane Henry bridges film, technology, and entrepreneurship. As co-founder of iKon Media & Films and a Disney software engineering executive, he helps expand what Caribbean creativity can become — from screen stories like Stew Peas to the systems behind global media.

Different disciplines. Different countries. Different rooms.

One shared signal: Caribbean-connected talent is not waiting to be discovered.

It is already building, performing, producing, researching, directing, engineering, and shaping the culture.

This is ODOS.

My mum always encouraged me to dance… so I did 💃
Growing up I did soooo many different types of dance. I performed, I competed, and it was just something I absolutely loved doing. 🤗

But as I got older, I did it less and less.☹️
And I’ve realised that, along with singing and cycling, dancing is one of those few things that genuinely feeds my soul. It makes me smile. It makes me feel like ME.

I think you eventually get to a point in life where you realise how exhausting it is worrying about what everyone else thinks of you.

Because people are going to judge you regardless.
You literally cannot please everyone.
So focus on pleasing yourself. 🥰

Dance because you want to dance.
Sing even if you’re not the best singer.
Wear the clothes you love even if they’re covered in holes and cacao powder 😂
Go out without makeup.
Be silly.
Be loud.
Be quiet.
Try things you might be shit at.
Post the video without watching it 700 times and picking yourself apart.😊

Work on becoming confident enough to just… BE YOUUUUU!
Being authentic doesn’t mean you HAVE to share every single part of your life with the internet. You’re still allowed boundaries and things that are just yours.🫶🏼

But don’t edit yourself into a version you think other people will find more acceptable.
There will always be someone who thinks you’re too much, too weird, too loud, too cringe or just simply doesn’t like you and that’s okay 🫶🏼

Let them… you only get in short life!

I’d much rather spend mine dancing like an idiot and enjoying it than standing still because I was scared someone might judge me. 😂💜🙆‍♀️💃🏼
