Reality is a Point of View: A Resurrection
(1/2 continued in comments)

I am currently resurrecting my first installation—a piece that originally came to life with the help of @christabaca and Greg Baca for my first solo art show, “Reality is a Point of View,” at @notiontulsa
The word notion is defined as a conception of or belief about something. As I bring this piece back to life, I find myself fixing elements that were once flawed due to my disconnection from inner peace and my battles with alcohol and mental health. Back then, Christa and Greg’s conception of my ability came from a place of true belief. I was, and still am, so blessed for that opportunity and for their continued faith in me through the “low times” I brought upon myself.
Looking back, my own belief about that initial success stunned me. My ego slowed me down to a near-complete halt. While I was only supposed to hold the show at Notion for a single year, they continued to believe in me for three full years—opening doors for me to design their menu and constantly encouraging my growth.
I see so many artists and passionate people do what I did: they take a moment of success as a cue to slow down. At the time, I thought I had “arrived.” I treated Notion’s gallery atmosphere as my personal space, sliding by for free coffee or food while only checking in on the “once in a blue moon” sale. It is so easy to mistake a great accomplishment for the finish line. In reality, an accomplishment is just a door of validation; it’s the moment you should start running harder than you ever have before.
For three years, that art sat still in a room, much like I did. I was tired, trying to find balance in a film career while being an artist at the same time, but it wasn’t fulfilling me. I was drinking myself into a victim complex and wondering what was wrong with the world. I wanted to be covered in paint, but I wasn’t doing the work. After hitting rock bottom, I was forced to get my life together. In that process, I found my passion again.

There are an infinite number of reasons why we feel stuck, why our ideas/life can feel blasé. Here’s five ways to jump back into your creative flow. As always, so simple… so cliche… so basic….. but have you tried them? 😉

Every artist knows the thrill and terror of a blank canvas.

That vast, unspoiled expanse—it taunts you, whispers to you, dares you to make a mark.

Sometimes, inspiration arrives like a muse on a mission, delivering a vision so vivid it practically bursts forth on its own. Other times, the act of creation is an act of faith, stepping boldly into the unknown, trusting that somewhere in the chaos, something meaningful will emerge.

And isn’t life just like that? Each of us, in our own way, is an artist. Every day, a fresh canvas stretched before us, waiting for the bold stroke of our courage. No one else can paint this picture for you.

Only you hold the brush, and only you can decide what colors, textures, and shapes will come to life.

To begin is a daunting task, and to begin, you must first silence the voice of doubt in your head. Usually, the question sounds something like this, “Who am I to do this?” Even Jesus, after he was baptized, was riddled with questions from Satan in the desert centered around his identity. We have to shut those voices of fear down when they come; otherwise, they will tackle our dreams to the ground before we even begin.

And begin, you must.

🦋✨You must use the wings of a thousand butterflies in your stomach to take flight. 🦋✨
