✈️🤖 IT’S OFFICIAL—WIMEE IS CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF!

The Wimee mascot made it through TSA! Apparently, a giant robot with a suitcase full of imagination is allowed on an airplane. 😂

Wimee’s first question: “If we hit airplane mode… will Michael stop talking?” 👀🤣

From workshops with Michael to library stops around the country, we’re bringing stories, creativity, and BIG robot silliness along for the ride! 📚✨

New York City, Traverse City, LA, Uk, Paris get ready! If you see Wimee at the airport, wave hello—and please remind him the overhead bin is NOT his seat. 🧳🤖

Where should Wimee land next? Tag your favorite library! 👇

Traverse City, got a pile of broken things haunting your space? 👻

Before the trick-or-treaters show up, bring us your busted stuff and let's fix it together. That lamp that flickers wrong, the sweater you want to wear but remember there's a hole in it, the chair with the wobbly leg... all of it has a place at the Repair Cafe.

WHAT CAN I BRING FOR REPAIR? Clothes, household items, bikes, small appliances, furniture, and more. Our volunteer fixers will work alongside you (not for you) so you leave knowing how the repair actually happened. Please no electronics like phones, computers, tablets or TVs or oversized items that cannot be easily carried by a team of two.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING? Small to medium-sized items fixable with basic hand tools, think clothing, wooden objects, ceramics, small appliances, toys, lamps, and knitwear. No electronics like phones, computers, tablets, or TVs, and nothing too big for two people to carry.

All of the tools needed for basic repairs will be provided, but if you have a specialty tool or piece needed for your repair, please bring it with you.

Repairing is caring, and everyone is welcome, no fixing experience required. Come as you are, broken things and all.

TRAVERSE CITY REPAIR CAFE
Saturday, October 31, from 10am-2pm
@ Traverse Area District Library Main Branch
Free and open to all

A (very) few of you know about my longtime banjo obsession. This past summer took my curiosity a bit further. Thanks to the excellent Traverse City Library @notjustbooks and their library of Things, I was able to check out a banjo for a few weeks!! It was enough to convince me I want more. So, on the drive back to NY and a new year with my freshman students, I stopped at @elderlyinstruments. Tried a much of banjos, learned a lot of stuff. Thanks, @elderlyinstruments !! Didnt find my banjo that day, but the hunt continues….

What happens when 1984 meets A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder—700 years in the future? Find out in Monitored, a darkly comedic interactive novel created entirely by the talented teen writers of the Traverse Area District Library’s (TADL) Twisted Quills Teen Writing Group.

After two years of collaboration, creativity, and dedication, these young authors are celebrating the release of their debut novel with a free public book launch!

Community members are invited to:

Meet the student writers and artists behind *Monitored*
Hear a live reading from the novel
Purchase a copy of the book
Have books signed by the creators
Attend a Q&A author panel with the teen authors
Set in a futuristic Traverse City 700 years from now, *Monitored* blends mystery, comedy, and speculative fiction into an immersive, interactive reading experience in which readers help shape the story. This project represents more than just a novel—it is the culmination of two years of imagination, teamwork, and perseverance by local teens

The book launch is free and open to the public. Readers of young adult fiction, educators, families, and supporters of local arts are encouraged to attend and celebrate the accomplishments of these remarkable young creators.

TADL’s Twisted Quills Teen Writing Group, hosted at the Woodmere library, provides young writers with opportunities to develop their craft, collaborate with peers, and bring ambitious creative projects to life. The student authors represent schools from across the region, including Greenspire High School & Middle School, TC West Senior High, West Middle School, Grand Traverse Academy, East Middle School, TC Central High School, and the local homeschool community.
