Highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s make this great grass-growing weather. If you’ve seeded, don’t winterize your irrigation yet; your new grass needs that moisture to grow deep roots before winter. We also cover the best way to handle falling leaves, and why you should move your Halloween inflatables every couple of days.

We had a great two-day soaking rain this past weekend, and lawns that were aerated and overseeded this fall are about to see some great germination.

A cool front is on the way next weekend, so if you haven’t seeded yet, now is the perfect time to get seed in the ground.

We still have a few openings the last week of October and the week after Halloween.

Weekly Lawn Update | October 7, 2026

Another good shot at rain is headed our way this weekend, which makes this a great week to aerate and overseed. We also explain why rain does more for your lawn than any sprinkler, and where that “after the rain” smell comes from.

Weekly Lawn Update | September 30, 2026

Nashville closed out September with zero measurable rain, the driest in city history. The good news: most brown lawns around town are dormant, not dead, and real rain is finally in the forecast this weekend. We’ll cover why now is the time to seed fescue, plus what Zoysia and Bermuda owners need to do this fall to prevent spring dead spot.
