Over the last year or so I’ve found myself leaning more and more features in the main body of the fit, along with an almost stress testing approach to seeing how much I can put in a fit before it becomes too much.

So today’s fit is a return to an older way of dressing - simple basics to create a base and silhouette with a couple of accessories focal points.

My hazy memory means I’m not sure if @nottooproper’s post was the chicken or the egg but it certainly resonates with where I’ve ended up today.

The main accessory today being this beautiful Japanese fabric scarf from @matterialist - keep an eye for his infrequent drops. His material choice is always top draw.

Also he and @mrchrishartley have reminded me that tattoos can be the accessories or feature in a fit - and/or act as a hidden detail that brings something to the party.

You’ve got the loafer, you’ve rinsed the Timberland boat and now it’s time for the deck shoe… 😮‍💨

I am pretty obsessed with deck shoes at the moment, I’m stuck between getting the @ghbass_eu Jetty or the @poloralphlauren deck shoe - keen to hear suggestions of any others?

History of the shoes is funny, in 1935, sailor Paul Sperry copied the grooved pattern of his dog’s paws onto rubber soles to stop slipping on wet decks, creating the first Sperry Top-Sider.

The US Navy adopted them in 1939, and the design soon upgraded to durable leather. By the 1980s, The Official Preppy Handbook turned this functional deck shoe into an absolute collegiate fashion icon.

It was @dafedia birthday and I went to visit her a few days in Oslo.

Lot of seafood, long walk around the city and in the Forest, many dive in the fjords, good time with new and old friends.

This week, I stepped back from the series and returned to the original intention:
true drawing, fully by hand, spontaneous yet rigorous lines, and stronger layers and overlapping forms.
@bienluienapris — composed blue tones, movement and graphic presence.
@efe.efeturi — a powerful safari jacket silhouette, full of tension and sharp details.
@nottooproper — a striking yellow against layered blues, elegant fit and rebellious nonchalance.
Everything I love.

WEEKLY SILHOUETTES 012
Week of May 4, 2026 — 3 selected silhouettes.

🫱This week, I took a step back from the series and decided to approach it differently.
I wanted to move closer to the original intention behind Sketching The Man:
🤜 true drawing, without a safety net — everything on paper, everything done by hand —
and the accumulation of spontaneous yet rigorous lines, building compositions and interpretations
of the endless flow of images feeding the menswear community.
I’m leaving the typographic titles behind and returning to a fully calligraphic signature.
And I came back to stronger layers and overlapping forms — something I find particularly powerful visually.

@bienluienapris always delivers composed and structured outfits, but above all, an embodiment of clothing revealed through movement, attitude, and a charismatic graphic presence — especially in this silhouette built around shades of blue.
@efe.efeturi carries a powerful stature in this perfectly worn safari jacket:
the buttoning creating tension, the raised collar, the high-waisted trousers,
and all the subtle details that bring the outfit together beautifully.
@nottooproper — this beret, this yellow surrounded by layered blues creating such strong chromatic tension,
an elegant fit, and a rebellious yet nonchalant attitude.
