RETRO-REVIEW ALERT
Welcome to NickHoule. This first project from the local rapper is a great introduction to his sound. a Conceptual and occasionally dark project that tells a story.. @penjimanbutton
_______________________________________
He opens up the project by announcing he's moving to Texas and leaving his current city with "Miss me". He's fed up with the monotony of a life in a small town and through the project you feel his struggle and how he's torn between two cities.
Nicks rapping ability is honestly impressive. He wears his heart on his sleeve so his verses are very emotionally charged but also incredibly witty and clever. Many lines on the 7 track project make you chuckle and rewind. At some points he even harmonizes and slows the tempo to very great affect like on "Scholar"
_______________________________________
Nick also crafted and sequenced the project perfectly because he keeps it interesting by changing gears often with little effort. Real life phone recordings serve as interludes that keep it all grounded in reality.
The emotional intro track turns into a quick lyrical flex on 'Slight Work'. Followed by a phone recording of his close friend Tyler @prettyboy_ufc free-styling in a car to then go into "Scholar" possibly the standout track. On Scholar Nick shows everything that makes him such a great artist.
__________________________________
The way he tells his story and lets his personality come through on this project is incredible seeing as this is his first official project. It's a very emotional project that is full of charm, wit and flirts with themes of Heartbreak and optimism. Nick is leaving and left a note on his airplane window...miss him with the bullshit
