my preferred story land // how lucky am I to have walked alongside the kindest people? to climb trees with them and catch waves with them? to play with them, to fall with them but also to get back up with them and be held by them? to witness them and allow myself to be witnessed by them? to let my capacity to receive love stretch in all directions? to be brave with them? to have sat in a movie theatre with them and witness something so deeply moving? to see them love and dance and cry and question and laugh so fiercely? to collectively, carefully, tentatively carve out ways of living and loving that we want to carry in our lives? how lucky am I? // committing to keep the tensions alive. knowing I’m not alone as I do that. just like trees in a forest, you can plant us however far away from each other, we’ll still find a way to each other // if not love, then what? if not us together, then who? thank you, @npicollective 💌

It was a turning point in all of our friendships when Rythem shared the meme that said, “My mom says it’s okay to start a revolution if it’s okay with your mom.” 🐦 We have come a long way in our friendship in the last nine months collectively questioning the oppressive systems and imagining a free world for all. I think our mothers would agree to this new revolution. Hum ladenge saathi, We’ll fight this together, friends. ❤

On 10th October ‘26, #WorldMentalHealthDay, our very own Programmes Lead, @nidsitis conducted two workshops with parents and facilitators at The Learning Centre (TLC) in Goa, drawing on themes from 2 of our mental health self-learning manuals, Holding Space Part 1 and Holding Space Part 2. The workshops, titled ‘Understanding disability and holding space,’ explored different models of disability and invited participants to question how pity and inspiration-based narratives fall short of advancing the rights of persons with disabilities or enabling them to live full lives. Through conversations, videos, and shared reflections, participants explored what it means to shift towards a rights-based understanding of disability. Here she is sharing some reflections from the day and the conversations that unfolded 🌟 Together, the sessions created space to question assumptions, unlearn existing perceptions and make room for more inclusive ways of understanding disability. What happens when we pause to question the ideas we’ve come to take for granted about disability? Our online workshop on Deconstructing Ableism brought together questions, reflections, and conversations that challenged some of the assumptions we carry into therapeutic spaces. We were joined by 16 wonderful participants, and the session was conducted by our very own Mental Health Lead consultant Dr. Prathama Raghavan. What happens when questions, comments and everyday interactions carry assumptions about who can – and SHOULD – be a parent? How do you think potential parents with disabilities feel about them? The experiences shared here remind us that bias shows up in many ways: in the things we unconsciously assume, the questions we ask, and in the ways we respond to parents with disabilities, or even those who wish to become parents. For mental health practitioners, noticing and challenging these assumptions is an important part of creating space for more honest and meaningful conversations. And that’s what our new manual, Connections Part 2, is all about.
