I'm so honored to have the greatest BOG CREW ever!!!!! Together, over the course of two hours, with only shovels, mattocks, scuffel hoes and regular hoes, we excavated 4 cubic yards of sod in preparation for the planting of BYOB

I am so touched and honored for everyones commitment to making this happen! It truly takes a village to BYOB! 💗

Stay tuned for this Satuday's adventures!

Build Your Own Bog day one has been launched!! It's not too late to RSVP (link in bio)!

Born from much-needed TLC for the landscape of Contemplative Space, and the boggy soil of the site, this project, BYOB, is a sight-specific, initiative and collaboration with campus administration, student volunteers, and grounds crew. The plant selection/curation for this 1,500sqft site focuses on honoring our connection to the past, present and future of our land; especially the social and ecological implications of wetland "re-generation".

If you want to be involved, here are the details!

Volunteers will help complete the site updates by October 18th for the ribbon cutting ceremony! Bog building tools and refreshments will be provided. These events are free and open to the public, while the suggested times are two hours, any time you have to give is valued and appreciated. Please come dressed to get dirty; rain or shine!

Schedule overview:

Tuesday Oct 6th 5-7pm (removing sod and potting up existing yellow-root bushes)

Wednesday Oct 7th 5-7pm (planting around rock benches and around sassafras tree, digging trench for bog area)

Saturday Oct 10th 12pm-5pm (soil building for bog area, spreading leaf mold and planting shrubs in bog area)

Tuesday Oct 13th 5-7pm (planting low growth in central bog area and upland buffer plants)

Wednesday Oct 14th 5-7pm (planting remaining plants and final mulching)

Sunday Oct 18th ribbon cutting 10:30am-12pm

Location: the west Bank of the "Gunk" pond behind Scudder Hall. GPS coordinates are also linked in bio

Thank you to all of the countless stakeholders and administrators who have granted me this wonderful opportunity to have this meaningful collaboration!

Someone definitely do a cover of this Pete Seeger song but it be about shovels 🪏

My BFA thesis work at the 2026 Dorsky Museum BFA shows!

Held in Dirt, 2026
Grass paper, Hardboard, Wood

Held in Dirt seeks to heal the relationship between the body and a site marked by harm. It explores the soft boundaries between self and environment by returning the body to the ground. Grass, a material that exists in the space between what is above and below the ground, was gathered from the site to produce the figure. The work, as installed, is incomplete. The pieces will be buried at the original location.

Grass tubes filled with sterilized dirt from the site are offered to willing participants who may redistribute them into new environments. Entrusting the ground with this work is a way to reconnect with place, proliferate care, and support an ongoing, incomplete process of healing.

This week I shared months of work toward a @processingcollapse project for the Mountain Top Library in Tannersville, NY. There will be two hand-carved boughs of Eastern hemlock installed beside the front doors of the library. At ten feet tall, they render the needles, growth nodes and buds at 125x magnification.

The wood for this project comes from an Eastern hemlock that uprooted and died on the Kaaterskill Rail Trail, less than three miles from the library.

For my final review with @npsculpture I staged the carving-in-progress alongside writings, photos, and ephemera of forest research, regional history, and library collaboration. Hemlock holds a noted place in the regional history of the Catskills and Hudson Valley, where its bark was harvested en masse for the leather tanneries of the 19th century. The second-growth hemlock forest, facing existential threat today from the non-native hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA), is not perceived with as much public relevance.

I learned to recognize hemlock by looking for wool—a sign of the insect killing it. Then, I couldn’t stop looking at the tree.

Thank you to @alexis_elton_artist and @emiliehoussart for being an incredible committee to my unconventional “thesis,” to @emily_puthoff for creating a space for me in the wonderful Sculpture program, and to my collaborator @michaelasbill for committing to forests & libraries with me. The work continues!

(For more about hemlock and Mountain Top, visit processingcollapse.com where I am building out our research archive. There is so much to share and so much more to come).

Regeneration is collaborative. As we celebrate all that has blossomed in the Eco Art Lab’s first year, we celebrate the hearts, minds, hands, and imaginations that made this dream possible. The Eco Art Lab thrives because of the care of this community of artists, students, educators, advocates, amplifiers, and stewards. Thank you! 🐝🙌🌞🔥🦋🐛🐞🌻☘️🍄🌳 @npsculpture @sunynewpaltz @sunynpart @newpaltzprintmaking_ @np_fpa @sustainablenewpaltz So lovely for current students to show alumni the Eco Art Lab’s transformation! @newpaltzalumni

A gorgeous day planting the Natural Ink and Dye Garden on the Sculpture Dock! Lovely to get hands and seedlings in the soil. Thanks to the students who tenderly planted and cared for the seedlings, Carolann and Sculpture Assistants- Isabella and Sarah. Thanks to Kelly for coordinating the seedling production and snacks. Can’t wait to see what students in the Fall 2026 classes create with the pigments that these plants provide. #naturalinkanddyegarden #growyourartmaterials
