Last month, @mashamabailey joined some good folks in D.C. for Restaurant Academy, sharing stories, wisdom, and a little Southern hospitality with the next generation of industry leaders. Good conversations, fresh perspectives, and a shared love for hospitality.

Big thanks to @resy, @americanexpress, and @nraefoundation for bringing everyone together!

At Restaurant Academy in Washington, D.C., hosted by American Express and Resy in partnership with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF), acclaimed industry leaders Mashama Bailey, Nok Suntaranon, Gregory Gourdet and Victoria James shared lessons and insights from their own journeys.

From leading with intention and investing in people to navigating the business of hospitality, they offered practical perspectives on building strong teams, creating opportunities for growth and leading restaurants for the future.

Because sometimes the right advice can put new possibilities on the menu. Watch a few highlights from the conversations.

Good food tastes even better after a great service! 🍔🍟

Shoutout to Mason and Nam, who have been doing great work at Savvy’s Bistro! They’re showing off their well-earned crew meals, and we’re proud of the work they’re putting in and the chefs and managers they’re becoming. 👨‍🍳

Join us for lunch tomorrow from 12:00–1:30 PM! We’ll be closed next week due to testing, so come get your Bistro fix and support our student chefs before the break. Dine in or grab it to go!

Sweet potatoes were the star of the show in our Baking & Pastry class this week! Students worked in teams to create original recipes featuring the sweet potato — turnovers, puffs, brownies, muffins, honey bun cake, sweet potato orange cake, and truffles all made an appearance. From building shopping lists to prepping ingredients on day one, to plating and tasting their finished creations on day two, students got hands-on with every step of the process. So much creativity inspired by one simple ingredient!

What are you reaching for first?

A bottle of our house-blended Savvy’s Seasoning to take home, or your own Savvy’s Bistro hat?

Both are hitting the shelves when Savvy’s Bistro returns this October! Our culinary students have been busy behind the scenes getting the Bistro ready, and this year you’ll be able to take a little piece of Savvy’s home with you.

Seasoning or hat? We already know what this crew is picking!
