I had a conversation at Elevate that I can’t stop thinking about and it wasn’t with a person.

I talked to an ElevenLabs AI agent, live. Real questions, real answers, no waiting. And here’s what stayed with me: the people winning with AI aren’t the smartest ones. They’re the most open-minded ones.

The future doesn’t knock. It just shows up and it rewards whoever’s paying attention.

Just left the tech rehearsal for @timeto_rally tomorrow and thought I would take a second to reflect on what I have been doing leading up to RALLY’s second year! (Long overdue post)

First off, none of this would have been possible without the insanely talented and generous founders and people I am proud to call friends, @brigittetruong and @keithwallace10.

Starting off, last month I was on a panel with Brigitte and @jyuen18 on digital wellness at @nrth.ca.

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of joining Keith on BT (@breakfasttelevision) alongside @timbolen! On set, we had @rick_campanelli, Brigitte, and my forever supporter, @ambermac!

This past Friday, I was on @globalnewsto with Brigitte and the incredibly sweet @jadenll! @chrisaarondick cheered me on from behind the camera and is the photographer behind most of these photos!

Now the only thing left to do is RALLY itself! Such an honour to be on the Youth Advisory Board of such an important and impactful event! Can’t wait!!!!!

I arrived at Elevate Festival, now Nrth Festival, in Toronto expecting three busy days of startups, speakers, investors, emerging technology and, inevitably, AI. Over the next few days, I moved between stages and startup booths, meeting founders and investors, watching demos and attending evening events. With more than 10,000 attendees and more than 250 speakers, it was a full-throttle tech symposium.

AI was a hot topic, but it wasn’t the whole story. What interested me most were the people. That, and the variety of businesses being built and the genuine enthusiasm around turning good ideas into real companies. ~ Ella

Elevate is officially Nrth, and we’re excited to be part of what comes next!

For years, Elevate has brought together communities from across Canadian tech to meet, share ideas, open doors, and build something bigger together.
Now, Nrth is taking that energy beyond the Festival. More connections. More opportunities. More ways for founders, builders and leaders to find the people and ideas that can help them make their next move.

As a Community Partner,
Magnus Communications US is proud to be along for the ride, and we can’t wait to bring our community with us.

Elevate got us here. Now we’re heading Nrth. ⬆️
See you there, @nrth.ca

What is a future worth investing in? @Parimalgosai, co-founder of Husmates, had the opportunity to speak at the @nrth.ca Startup Stage last month to share that a future worth investing in is one that gives people hope. In housing, we are at a pivotal moment. Either a paradigm shift will create abundance, or the cost of living will make it impossible to own a home anywhere. Either way, change is coming, and will redefine how people live in cities forever.

We believe that co-ownership is a necessary piece of puzzle that can bring people together to create a more just future in housing and redefine the individual role you play in a city. We’re lucky to have been able to share this story alongside Shevonne Chin from @flikindustries and Robin Petrogiannis from @our_pwr_, two incredible startups working to redefine what tech can do to create safer experiences. And we also want to extend our thanks to @max_mohenu from NRTH for this opportunity, as platforms like these allow us to show people how and why co-ownership is a future of housing worth investing in.

Founders: your follow-up might be way too polite. 👀
Shania Bhopa’s hot take?

People aren’t annoying enough.

As an angel investor in wellness startups, she says inboxes get busy, decks get buried, and one follow-up often isn’t enough.

Her advice: bump your deck. Follow up. Stay persistent.
There’s a difference between being annoying and being unforgettable.

How many follow-ups is too many? 👇

Canada’s tech ecosystem is booming, but there’s still a major gap. 🇨🇦

Martin Yuill, Executive Director of Spark Centre, says the next step is commercialization.

Not just building great technology, but helping Canadian companies access the funding, investors and support they need to actually scale.

That may be one of the biggest opportunities in Canadian tech right now.

Do you agree? 👀

Stepped out to @nrth.ca last week to interview @newtonian about building Clio into one of the country’s most important technology companies.

There was a lot to unpack: the early mission, scaling up over 20 years, preserving culture, Canada’s role in a global operation and how it can be a better place to build.

We also talked about the right (or wrong) time to sell. In Jack’s case, it was the difference between a $2M and $5B company—and two decades later, he’s still all in.

Thank you to @goclio and @nrth.ca for having me!

Today is Music Advocacy Day! 🎤 As a Recording Academy San Francisco Chapter Governor, I believe music creators deserve a real seat at the table where the decisions that shape our livelihoods are made. Fair pay, protecting our voices in the age of AI, and making sure the next generation of artists can actually build a sustainable life in music.

Music is how we tell the truth about who we are. Let’s make sure the people who make it are protected 🙏🏽
