These 140 singers from 16 different schools worked so hard during our NSU RiverHawk Pre-Audition High School Choral Workshop!

An impossible day if we didn't have the direction and expertise of
Dr. @moorealid , Dr. @lambert_yongjae_lee_ , @nostrafrog , George Hilligoss, Mr. Broyles, Mrs. Myers, @eric_is_tired , @raydjo_ , and all of the other University Singers.

Thank you, choir directors, for bringing your students to us at NSU. Go Hawks!

The 2026 NSU RiverHawk Pre-Audition Junior High Choral Workshop was 🔥.

Over 200 student singers from 18 different schools!!!

These free, one-day workshops serve students from big and small schools and don't happen without the help of great colleagues like @nostrafrog , @moorealid , @lambert_yongjae_lee_ , and George Hilligoss.

Many thanks to the directors who also chipped in their expertise during sectionals and all who entrusted these young singers' voices and music preparation to us. I hope today was helpful and wish them all the best for their auditions. The University Singers were all big helpers on stage, in sectional rooms, with crowd control, and as building escorts. I can't wait to do it again in a couple of weeks with the high school singers!

Thanks to the generous support of @nsucola and the team at @saiedmusicco we received two new Eastman CC tubas yesterday! These instruments will help our outstanding low brass students succeed in their ensembles, applied lessons, and personal practice as they prepare for careers in music. Last year we were able to purchase two Eastman euphoniums, so now we have a set of Eastman instruments for a complete tuba quartet. Thank you to CoLA, Saied, and Eastman! Go Hawks! 🤙💚

Yesterday I had the privilege of sharing a little of my editing journey with students from @thetalonliteraryjournal , a publication I got to work on two seperate years during my time at Northeastern State University. @nsucola

To say this publication helped get me where I am today would not be an exaggeration. It taught me skills I use every day as an editor, but what I do with @emergeliterarymagazine is basically the same thing I did with The Talon. I’d be lost without that experience!

Huge thank you to Murphy @betty_clockers for all you’ve done, and for inviting me come ramble to the class. Can’t wait to read the new issue! Oh, guess I should see if I have anything I could submit, too… 🤔

Also (for the algorithm gods), the picture is of our foster dog working on his yoga. Message me if you’d like to meet this lovable goober.

Riverhawks on the international stage! NSU Trumpet Ensemble is home from their first ever appearance at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah! The ensemble was invited to perform as a prelude ensemble. They performed Giza Necropolis by @jasondoveltrumpet from memory to a very appreciative audience before a presentation by @somethingsomethingtrumpet . This was a the first time the NSU Trumpet Ensemble has performed at an international conference, and our students had a transformative experience. They were able to hear some of the world’s greatest trumpet players, meet some trumpet heroes, network with other emerging professionals in the trumpet world, discover new music, and try ALL the trumpet gear they could possibly imagine. Major thanks to @nsucola for making this trip possible, and to @itginternationaltrumpetguild for the gracious invitation. Go Hawks! 💚💚💚

miss larrison's last lecture!!!

teaching college classes was NEVER on my bingo card but here i am wrapping up two unforgettable years in the classroom?! being an instructor has been the sweetest journey yet. i'm so thankful that these past two years taught me more than any textbook ever could and pushed me to live outside of my comfort zone. i'm beyond grateful for the community that's been alongside of me. watching my students stretch their limits, find their voices and surprise themselves (and me!) with their potential has been the sweetest reward. thank you to every single one of my students for letting me be part of your growth—and more importantly for being part of mine!! i'm proud of being able to push my students limits and of the front row seat i got at watching both them and myself grow.

nsu 4EVER!!!💚💚💚
