Creating Through Culture 🖼️

Art is more than creation—it’s a legacy in the making. The Canvas, Culture & Legacy panel brings together Black women artists who are using their mediums to reflect, reclaim, and reimagine cultural identity. From painting to digital art, their work is a testament to the stories that need to be told.

🎨 Ntangou Badila is a multifaceted artist blending Congolese heritage with American innovation in
the visual arts. Her work resonates with purpose, vitality, and bold colors. Badila’s unique
interpretations inspire reflection and advocacy. Her exhibitions, “Queendwombmen” and “Gemini Moon,
“ explore indigenous wisdom and nature. Recent works in E(n)ternal Lighf delve into the internal depths of the body. Badila’s perspective invites us to transcend the ordinary and embrace the profound.

don’t nobody wanna be great, everybody wanna be seen, nobody wanna be quiet, everybody wanna be heard.

the things i once loved gets destroyed by beings who don’t desire tradition and rituals anymore.

everything is grey. fast, cheap, memorized not well trained or well kept, get it while you can, you ain’t it if you ain’t seen, learn it once and you’re a master, no more originality just copy and paste.

no real hearts in it just here for the money or for the 30 seconds exposure of a vid.

reality is so artificial, synthetic, and pathetic sometimes. can we really be real?

sometimes i think about the pressure of being an artist and how lately it hasn’t been a space for me to truly be free. the pressure of not doin too much so there’s no envy, pressure of wantin to create without bein criticized, pressure of feelin as if i need to fit in, pressure of not bein out danced by the community, the pressure of the anxiety that comes with it all . i miss the days of community classes brin us all together and dancin to get a freein spirit! drummers wantin to actually drum for the upliftin for their joy and to the people! bringin brotherhood through music. no speed, just groove, no competition, just enjoyment, no smoke to haze the reasons of why we do this as a whole. i miss learnin, understandin, comin in with a heavy mind and walkin away as a lighter bein. i miss the meanin of it all.
