POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Five years ago, The Banded Bird was born — a pot call unlike any other, built around our passion for the wild turkey and the tradition of the hunt. The band represents something bigger than a call; it symbolizes our commitment to conservation and our responsibility to protect the wild turkey for generations to come. Five years later, we’re proud to celebrate the journey, the people, and the purpose behind it all. 🦃

Over the past five years, we’ve faced a lot of tough times, challenges, and moments that tested us in ways most folks will never see or know about. Behind every milestone and every bit of progress, there’s a story, a sacrifice, and a fight that doesn’t always make it to the outside. But through it all, we’re still here, still pushing forward, and just getting started. 🤝

I’ve gotten a lot of feedback in the past that people enjoyed listening to how I’d tell the story, so here’s a short reading from Chapter 3: Thunderous three from my up and coming book, Scribblings of A Turkey Hunter -Turkey Hunting and the Moments That Matter-. I’ve never done something like this before, so I sure hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think!

Absolutely wild to reach this milestone. Eclipsing 40,000 words now qualifies Scribblings of a Turkey Hunter as a “Standard Length Novel”. Now that means so little to so many, but I never in my right mind that A) this project could be this expansive, B) be something I’d be doing in my life, and C) turn into such a fun challenge that I’d fall in love with and bend me in ways I’ve never been before.

With 4 more chapters to go, and a slough of mini sections yet to put in, I look forward to what this’ll continue to blossom into! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has stuck with this, checked in, asked to read snippets, test read for me so far, and encouraged me! To the pages not yet written!!

The Self Portait

These are the hardest images for me to capture. These are the most rewarding images for me to capture. I'll explain.
Every one of these images started as a concept, an idea. The challenging part is to reproduce an image you have in your head. Seldom you recreate that image, sometimes you nail it.
There is a reoccuring theme in these self-portraits. If you notice, I rarely show my face in these images. That is purposely done. I dont want you to see ME, I want you to resonate or connect with an image. Think about when you and your daughter were out and about, and she fell asleep on your lap. Smell the corn and the dust in the air of grain bin. The way the rope feels in your hand as you hoist up your deer. The comfort and intimate moments of a loyal dog. The colors and sound of an encroaching thunderstorm.
I want to represent the outdoorsman, the farmer, the father, your friend, and your family.

Right now, and I mean right heckin now I’m writing about the colors of this particular bird in this sun. In your own words, what would be YOUR way of explaining this amazing display?? I really want you to think. I’ve already got mine down, I just am so curious to see how others would describe it.

You know, these trends sometimes are pretty darn cool.
Might be the only time I see that name on a TV screen besides my college days, but what an interesting concept!
The book is making great progress so far!
I’m through the first part of 3 in chapter 9, and l’ve decided there will be 13 total chapters. Can’t wait to share more with you guys!
