Nearly 20 members of the Greater Washington Urban League delegation made sure we SHOWED UP at the Lincoln Memorial this past Friday for the 63rd anniversary of the March on Washington.

Our delegation represented so many parts of the Urban League movement: affiliate staff, members and supporters, Guilders, Thursday Network members, National Urban League Young Professionals leaders and the National Urban League Washington Bureau.

We are proud not only of our turnout, but of how our delegation participated in this moment.

Generations ago, young people helped propel the Civil Rights Movement forward. Today, another generation of young professionals continues answering that call.

Current and former Thursday Network presidents marched alongside fellow Urban Leaguers and the National Urban League Young Professionals Advocacy and Action Chair helped lead the delegation carrying the National Urban League banner. The National Urban League Washington Bureau team coordinated our collective efforts, while members of GWUL staff and Thursday Network served alongside the National Urban League media team to capture and share the story of this pivotal moment.

We came to march. We came to serve. And we made sure our presence was felt.

With less than three months until the 2026 midterm elections, our work does not end at the Lincoln Memorial.

As early voting begins across the country in the weeks ahead, we must remain informed, engaged and vigilant. From our youngest generation of advocates to experienced leaders who have spent decades doing this work, we will continue encouraging our communities to participate in our democracy and make their voices heard.

To every Urban Leaguer who traveled to Washington, D.C., to stand with us, thank you for your commitment to the movement. We hope you made it home safely.

The march may be over, but the movement continues.

Stay tuned for more photos and moments from the 63rd anniversary of the #MarchonWashington2026 ✊🏿❤️

Inspired by @breakfastclubam x @nativelandpod and amplified by @dr.wesbellamy + @angelarye and qualified by @jmli.vsu

Bring a ladder. Bring a crew.

Every pathway to economic mobility matters including college classrooms and construction sites. Let’s not debate the means but uplift all modes to black wealth & healthy families.

Construction sites, manufacturing facilities, healthcare, information technology, transportation, and advanced industries all require highly skilled professionals who build our communities and strengthen our economy. How we educate people is just as important as where we educate them. As we continue working to dismantle the lasting effects of Jim Crow, confront modern forms of discrimination, and respond to policies that threaten longstanding civil rights protections, we should be encouraging BOTH, AND, ALL OF THE ABOVE.

From the March on Wall Street: Marc H. Morial, President & CEO of the National Urban League, delivered a powerful message to Wall Street and the nation:

“We say no to attacks on health care, SNAP, and equal opportunity. We say no to smear campaigns against Black women leaders and against diversity, equity, and inclusion. But we say YES to growth, YES to jobs, YES to justice, YES to democracy today, tomorrow, and forever.”

Morial reminded the crowd that together, communities of color and marginalized groups represent an $8 trillion economy, larger than every nation except China and the U.S. DEI is not just a slogan, it’s about power, justice, and America’s future.
