Good things take time...

Very happy that today is release day for The Outsider, The Music of Jules De Corte by Linus + Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, the sixth Linus album.

It’s been a long time in the making. I got a cassette with some of Jules De Corte’s solo music when I was around 15, and his music has stayed with me ever since.

From the first duo experiments with Thomas Jillings many years ago, to making the translations, creating new arrangements with Frederik Leroux and Laurens Smet, and finally recording them with Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy — it took many years to bring this album to life, but I’m very happy with the result.

“best friend” is a song about sensing how you’ve slowly grown into nothing more than platonic partners to someone who was once your romantic partner. knowing that your relationship is coming to an end soon, but still rather remaining in the situation because you cannot bear to leave. we tried to translate that feeling into a video, and we’re SO proud of how this clip turned out 🫶

DRAGRACER IS OUT NOW on all platforms 🏁 Stream it. Shout it!

Our first song in a long time, so we’re stoked to finally share it. We wanted to write a big, fast, joyful rock song with a guitar solo you could hear from space, and then write it around lyrics that digg a little deeper.

Dragracer is about the anger you feel at the fakeness you see everywhere. At people selling certainty, at ‘plastic’ perfection, at chasing status and mistaking it for worth, at manospheric guys screaming that strength means hiding your emotions. But it’s also about the doubt all those loud, wrong ideas plant in the rest of us. Nobody is immune to it.

Yet often there is loneliness behind that facade. Avoiding or hating doesn’t fix a thing. Reaching out does. So where the chorus calls them out, the bridge reaches out and picks up the phone. ‘Just give me a call before you fall. We’ll sort it out and live forever.’

Be proud of who you are. Stay there for the people who think differently.
