148 Borges Carneiro

Completed

One of the most distinctive spaces in the existing apartment was the kitchen, entirely clad in tiles, both on the walls and ceiling - an uncommon feature in Lisbon apartments of this period.
From the outset of the project, preserving this exceptional character became essential.
The kitchen was enlarged, the original tiles were carefully reinstated, and new pieces were produced in a slightly more muted tone to complete the tiled surfaces.
The design and execution were considered down to the smallest detail: not a single tile was cut during installation.

159 Edmond Bartissol

The project is located in the São Domingos neighbourhood, in an old area of Setúbal shaped by the city’s eastward expansion. The present-day Rua Edmond Bartissol, formerly Rua de São Domingos, retains within its structure the memory of the successive transformations of this place.
During the archaeological surveys, the building revealed the materials and construction systems that marked its different phases. Below ground, the excavations uncovered remains of medieval pottery production, suggesting that the site may originally have been used for ceramic production.

🇬🇧 A building with decades of history, shaped by successive interventions that stripped it of unity. The proposal restores its coherence, creating a new system between access points, routes and spaces.

Every edition of @absolute.escape is created with the ambition of revealing places that inspire, move, and remain in our memories long after the journey has ended.
In this 64rd edition, we turn our gaze entirely towards the Alentejo, a land where space, silence and time seem to acquire a different meaning.
A region that does not ask to be rushed, but rather invites us to slow down, look around and experience each place with greater attention.
ALENTEJO — THE ART OF STAYING is a visual journey through remarkable places. This time, we allow images to take the lead, revealing a collection of accommodations chosen not only for their beauty, but for the way they belong to the landscape, preserve a sense of identity and offer their own interpretation of Alentejo hospitality.
Throughout these pages, photography becomes our way of travelling. From historic properties filled with memory to intimate rural retreats surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and endless plains, each place reveals a different side of a region where authenticity remains one of its greatest luxuries.
But experiencing the Alentejo also means gathering around the table. In this edition with @savorymag #04, gastronomy becomes part of the journey through places where tradition, territory and contemporary creativity meet, reminding us that some of the most meaningful stories of this region are still told through its flavours.
More than a collection of beautiful places to stay, this edition is about the art of staying — staying a little longer, allowing ourselves to notice the details, listening to the silence and rediscovering the pleasure of travelling without always thinking about what comes next.
